Will a 2007-2009 Mustang hold its value?

Now that the 2010 are out, will the 2007 - 2009 Shelbys still hold their value? I am ready to buy a 08 but am wondering if I should wait until next year to get a better deal. What do you think?

Nothing made by Ford short of the Ford GT is going to hold much value.

i would think that a shelby would hold value a little more then just a stock gt. being that it has c. shelby's name on it.
we will all see in about 25 / 30 years at auctions i guess.

Exactly. My car is just barley above Kelly Blue book and has 4000 miles on it and it is cleaner than anything you find on a showroom floor. I bought it brand new in 07 and it has lost about 7000 in value since the day I bought it. There are very few American cars that hold value unless they are rare and have high demand.

nothing but truth in that statement. Bought my v6 for 22.5 and traded it in for 15 after about 8 months and 7000~ miles. (First dealership i was talking to told me 12grand i laughed at them gave them the finger and left. they actually had the nerve to call me up and ask why i left) (KBB value was 15k for excelent and 12k for poor i did my homework before talking to them)

+1 on the losing value id hold out for a year. especially with the new model gt500 coming out that should drop ur 08 price. how do u have a 07 with 7000 miles!? mines an 07 and i broke 20k yesterday lol. of course i guess i could go the gary paul route and have a car that will forever look like it just rolled out of the factory

Mine is 07 and got only 5900 mile

I bought it on 08, it was sitting on the lot for a year so it had 0 km on it, paid 21 g and the dude at ford couple months ago said trade in value is 14 g

General rule is buying a car is not a good investment, specially American compared to Japanese but i dont care because at the end of the night when i put my head on my pillow, i'll smile that i have a beauty sitting in my garage + i am planning to keep her for a long time

You had my exact thought. Most of us that buy Mustangs don't plan on selling them.

The key is keep it till it is worth more than you bought it. Wish I had knew this when I was younger. I once had a 1947 coupe.

I think in the long-term (15 - 25 years) time will smile kindly on the '05-'09 models equipped with a V8 engine. The reality is that virtually any new car is a poor financial investment, and our Mustangs are no exception to this rule.

However, I suspect values will bottom-out in about 10 years and then gradually increase for cars that have been well maintained. The classic look of the '05-'09 models will be appealing no matter what is going on with the rest of the automotive world in years to come.

No matter how some folks want to spin it, the 2010 restyling took away much of the vintage flavor of the original S197, and as such, these newer models will be far less desirable as time moves on.

I agree the 2010 Mustang will most likely be worth far less then any other mustang because of the poor performance and styling which a lot of people are not too hip about. However, I think once the 2011 Mustang comes out with the rumored 400 hp I think the desirability will increase tremendously and I would say it will be worth more then the 05-10 stangs. One thing for sure is that the 05 and up will always be worth more then the 94-04 stangs. Those Mustangs IMO will fade away very fast except for a few cobras and perhaps the Mach 1.
