Default Converting V6 to Dual exhaust: Buy GT Bumper or Cut bumper

Hello, last night after our baseball game I got to where our cars were parked, and I pulled out and started driving, then had to stop for the bus, and when doing so a teammate ran into the back of my stang Anyway, it dented around the license plate, broke the license plate light, and took off some paint. It's nothing you can notice from a distance, but it's enough to have to get a new bumper because I want my car to look nice. We got a quote for getting a new bumper. Getting the new bumper, painting it, etc and labor comes out to around $670. I've just been waiting to put dual exhaust on my car. If we get a GT bumper it is like 200 dollars more. The GT bumper he said would be around 450 bucks, and the v6 just 228. So I was wondering if you could offer your opinion about whether to get a v6 bumper and cut it later, or just get the GT bumper. Or is there an option to get a v6 bumper and buy something to make the exhaust fit like a GT valence or whatever. Please respond with your opinion, Thank You

Why not get a GT takeoff bumper. Would be a lot less.

I wouldn't cut it. If you mess up, you just wasted a new bumper. It also won't look quite like the gt bumper.

agreed . take a weekend and run to a junkyard or two. better yet have your team mate that hit you drive (better than the extra $200, yeah?). if your lucky you'll even find it in the same color. if a junkyard is too far look for a local accident repair place and let them know what your looking for. alot of times they'll get a car in thats going to be evaluated by the insureance company to total it or not. if they total it you can most likely buy it off them before they scrap it. it may be more work than you wana do but it can save you some seriouse cash in the long run.

Buy the bumper simply because a cut bumper looks like garbage. The pipes stick out like those old Camaros. YUCK!!

You can get the GT/CS rear bumper for about $300-$325 out the door from the dealer as a Ford accessories kit.

Might get a deal on painting through the dealer too.

Well, here's a different opinion. Take a good look at the GT bumper...you'll notice is has a flaring at the bottom that matches up with the ground effects of the GT that the V6 doesn't have. I considered this when I went with dual exhaust on my V6 and had the bumper cut instead. It's an exact match to the factory exhaust cut on the other side.

I agree with the others to look on ebay, takeoff sites, or junk yards and find a gt takeoff. It will save you some money, and IMO the gt bumper looks better then the cut six. If that doesn't work out, just go ahead and by the gt 500 bumper like Mr. Ugly suggested.

yeah i've tried looking on ebay but I can't find them as cheap as everyone says. And there's like: Ford Mustang GT bumper cover, and I don't really understand that because it looks like a bumper but it says bumper cover, can someone explain?

Also i was wondering if I could just buy some kind of valence or valance or whatever it's called, or would that also put me in the same predicament of either having to get a GT bumper or cutting the v6 bumper

Dude...I'd like to know where the guy is getting off trying to sell a GT bumper for $450 bux?!

I had a similar situation, cept I was hit by a stranger in...well another mustang. She completely took off my rear bumber when I was camping in Wisconsin. When I got home and took it to the shop, for "poops and giggles" (since I already have been warned by mods not to swear), I asked the repair guy to see how much more a GT bumper would be. He called the same place he was going to get the replacement V6 one, and he said it was a whopping $5.00 more.

That is a good point...BUT....the GT is the only model that has the color matching side skirts. If he really wants, he can paint that flaring to match it and come out with a Mach 1/Boss looking style like I am going to...

But I do see your point
