gears are hands down the biggest bang for the buck, and 4.10's are not really that bad. at 70 they are at 2650 rpms (in 5th gear automatic) 05horse's 05 manual with 3.73's a that same speed was at 2550 i beleive. they are definitely not too hatefull, and with the 4.10's you will literally feel like you are driving a different car. HUGE difference.
my advice
CAI/tune $550
4.10s and bearings -200 with a 300 install
theres your 1000 bucks, and the next order of business is exhaust, it will let her breathe a bit better, but really it will just sound bad ass

I'm also shopping for gears for my DD but I live in Canada and I'll be driving it year round. Will the 4.10s make driving in the snow tougher?
If you're already good at driving a limited slip rear wheel drive car in the snow... I doubt that the gear ratio will make that much difference. Just my opinion

yeah, and from what I understand you can manage the final drive ratio somewhat with tire size if it turns out I'm tacking way too much... and with the tuner you can program the car for different tire sizes so the speedo is correct
The Brenspeed tuners come with an 87 octang tune, which, believe it or not, is probably what I'll run most of the time. You can afford to burn a little more gas if it doesn't cost as much.
So which CAI? I really like the Ford Bullit for fit and finish.

Maybe easier. You will be able to roll 25% slower at idle RPM before needing to mess with the clutch. So long as your throttle mapping is reasonable anyway.

Have a look at their competitors. Tillman will allow you to choose from any type of tune for any chosen Octane. Ford Racing Bullitt 85mm Intake & SCT X3 Tuner Package / 2005-2009 Mustang GT
I am using TillmanSpeed Performance (Tuned to favor lower RPM) and their Road Race (very fun) in 91 Octane. Then I choose an 87 Performance tune for if I need to run that stuff some time. But if I didn't already have Ford Racing Emissions tune in their pro-cal tuner (something I think is omitted in those special packages) I would have opted instead for a different choice set. From what you said already, I think that my three would be. A 91 road race tune, The 87 performance tune. And an 87 emissions tune for if you have to get inspected. There is an imformative document Tillman Speed, Inc. Forums • View topic - What's The Difference Between Your Tuning Maps? you can study here. And yes, the SCT will allow you to make some adjustment tweeks for a few things. So if you change your wheels or rear end, your covered.

There is a design feature of that Bullit intake which looks very much like it is designed to operate as a Ram Air at speed. The unit mates up with the hood liner to create a closed chamber with an opening facing forewards. At highway speeds I would not be a bit surprised if that design didn't boost the air pressure in that box a little. I need to figure out a way to measure if it does or not. Although a dead yellow jacket was recently discovered wedged deeply between the pleats of my filter element. Must be some air flow through there for that to happen.

Thanks, I guess it might be a bit of a trade off. It'll take some finesse to get her in motion without spinning the tires off but better once she's under way.
