The easiest way to understand gear ratios are on a bicycle.1st gear would be 4.10's and 6th gear or so, would be 3.31's. Take off as fast as you can for 100 feet and see what gear you get there faster with.

Wait, you already got gears installed???

I thought you started this thread yesterday?

If you haven't already put the gears in... Think 4.10s over really well. Yeah, they're fast as heck, but if you ever are going to put a supercharger or turbocharger on later, you'll be kicking yourself for putting in 4.10s!

I (sorta) took apart & put back together an '02 V6 Pontiac Firebird's differential (where the gears are) and it wasn't too difficult. If you find a good shop, you can have it done in 4 - 5 hours.

Not so much with an auto. With a manual, it's a little too much gear.

gettin them done at a ford dealership. I know they will be more expensive, but I KNOW they will be done right and if they aren't they will make it right.

i got an estimate of $600.

Damn $600 for install or parts and labor? Either way its more money, but you know its done right.

I was charged $470 for parts and install. They even warrantied my differential. Everything came out perfect.

I'm excited though. I have CAI and exhaust and a tuner on the way. Should make a big difference.

Supercharger in december.

So you have 4.10s coming? And don't listen to RetroGT06... He's nuts after taking a big chem test today.

But seriously... You'll love them! And you'll love spinning through your first 3 gears with 4.10s and a blower!

Congrats man, I can't wait for mine!
