Default O/R or catted H with LTs on a daily driver

Would you guys run a catted or O/R H for a daily driver? I am planning to keep my Boomtubes and if I have to put a set of resonators on if it is too loud.
A friend of mine had a '04 GT with an O/R X and Borla exhaust and it had a crazy amount of interior noise. I'm not sure if that was because he didn't have catts or if it was the Borlas.

I like o/r H in my daily driver but i dont mind the noise or emissions difficulties. If you dont want to deal with the noise or have to deal with passing emissions then my advice is dont get a non catted midpipe but the catted ones arent really that loud.

If you do not want a lot of noise go catted. I do not know if you have emmissions there. I like my O/R Xpipe. I like loud though. My GTA`S quiet mine down a lot also. Your mufflers are really going to get loud.

I don't have to worry about emissions testing, but the noise is what I was wondering about. I'm leaning towards catted, but wanted to get a second opinion.

I run an O/R x pipe with my boomtubes and I like the volume although it is crazy loud to some people. There is a guy in my town who has boomtubes with and O/R h and it has got to be one of the sickest sounding cars I've ever heard. It just screams muscle Makes me wish I had gone with an h. If you like loud then drop the cash right now.

yup ive got boomtubes and im wanting to do a prochamber and MAC lt headers... and im for sure gunna get some cats welded onto the prochamber.... the only thing Im worried about is that I think the boomtubes are pletny loud as it is.... will l/t's with a catted prochamber make it a lot louder? if so then im gunna have to ditch the boomtubes and get so im chambered mufflers... any input would be great on this.... I hope you dont mind me asking this in your thread bocephus as its a similar question.

Bocephus I would go with an off road mid pipe. You can put your stock mufflers back on,while you sale the others you have on the forum. Get some GTA`S with the 4 inch tail pipes. They look good, and it will not be so loud. It will be loud only when you are getting on it,and not as loud as your mufflers would be. You will get a bit more performance also with an off road pipe.

I want to keep an H, but for now since this is my daily driver I'm planning to keep the cats on for now. I have a feeling I'm going to be broke by lunch time.

I don't mind at all, it is almost the same thing I'm asking. My plan right now is to get LT headers with a catted H and keep my Boom Tubes for now. If that is too loud I will probably try putting on a set of resonators. I'll let you know how loud it is after I get them installed.

Im at the same stop as you bud. Although I wont be buying L/T's anytime soon unfortunatley, lol.... but i do know finally what I want.... I was actually thinking of gettting the MAC axleback's just to complete the one company exhaust since I will be getting MAC L/T's and prochamber(missed a damn good deal on here in the classifieds... only a few hours late, grrr)..... although the boomtubes are MAC too....
my only dilemana left is how will the boomtubes sound and unfortunatley bocephus I dont think the odd's look good for us, lol.... I mean we both have them with stock setups(right?) and they are farking loud as it is!!!!!!

And honestly there are tons of people willing to trade axlebacks all the time on the forums you just gotta look around so maybe the boomtubes and $50 or so cash should get us some nice chambered mufflers.... my biggest grief with axlebacks out there is that the tips are usually only 3.5" or 3" and I dont think I could get used to looking at anything that sized after seeing 4" tips on my car, lol.... heck i would go 4.5" if I could!!!!

Anyways good luck bud and let me know how things pan out for you with the boomtubes and if you add the resonators!!!!!

you are not going to notice too much of a difference if you get a catted one and stay with a H pipe.

I would leave the cats out.... its just I dont think I could take anything louder then I already have as my car is a daily driver.

I guess time will tell!

Yeah, I figure if I have to I can sell/trade my boom tubes for something quieter but I'm going to try to keep them for now since they sound and look great. Yes besides boom tubes my exhaust is stock too, and I think it sounds great! I agree about the 4" tips, they do look a lot better than the stock tips (2.5 or 3"?). You might check some shops around you to see if they could make a set of 4" tips for you and put them on if you get a different set of mufflers with smaller tips.

Yeah I got in on the group buy. Getting headers now vs saving for a blower is a hard decision, I don't think I can wait for as long as it would take me to save enough money to even start thinking about a blower but you are a lot closer to that goal than I am.

I'm pretty happy with the sound of my stock exhaust setup with just boom tubes. I can't wait to hear what it will be like with LTs!

Same here, since it is my daily driver I'm going to keep catts on for now. Eventually I'll probably end up getting rid of them, but that will be on down the road.
