I just ordered the pypes mid muffler sistem from american muscle come whith off road x pipe i heard this exhaust on u tube it sounds awsome i was wonder is there hp gains from this /?Does anyone have this setup if so is there any drown inside car thanks for the feed back i let yall know how sounds when i get it installed thanks guys
I am sure it is going to sound better but I wouldn't be expecting a big HP gain. The stock system is pretty good. I do think you might gain some with the offroad X. You are going to have to install longtubes to really get a significate gain.
I made my own mid muffler set up. I used a pypes O/R H that goes into a set of Magnaflow 11426 muffler, then out back I had my flowmasters, man what a deep sound, but not loud enough. I did a muffler delete and now it is great. No trumpeting, no drone, just pure sickness.
Ordering a set of pypes L/T soon. I also noticed that torque improved slightly with the magnaflows and flowmasters, well, according to the butt dyno.

I ran one for about 6 weeks. No appreciable HP gains and the sound was horrible inside and out. Hope you have better luck.
stl, what it is that you don't like about the Pypes Mid Muffler system that you had? I saw some other threads where you tell people to avoid them, especially with long tube headers.
I found this video in youtube and I couldn't find a better sounding exhaust. Maybe it's all about taste. The owner said he got all his parts and tune from Brenspeed. Kooks LT headers and catted X, and Pypes Mid Mufflers on naturally aspirated engine.
I also noticed that the Borla Stingers, which is what you have, sounds quite similar to the Pypes Mid Mufflers. Just slightly deeper. So what's the difference?

Dang it STL. You've been raining on my parade all day! After the Pypes LTs and midpipe, I was planning on selling my Borlas and getting a Mid Muffler system. Just like the C&L topend package, I like the idea of staying with one brand.

It was just loud. Not a refined sound at all. Tinny and raspy and popped like crazy on decel.

I'm sure it's better without headers.
Maybe it's better with shorty headers and catted x-pipe to quiet things down a bit. Just like you, I don't like it too loud, more importantly, because I have a convertible.
Catted is a must because my little kids ride with me sometimes, and I don't want them to breathe the fumes espacially when the top is down.
You're right, they are a bit raspier than the Borla Stingers. Then again, I like MACs, so I guess I lean towards the raspy type. I would go Stingers but the Pypes are cheaper. Although I like the 4 inch tips of the Stingers. But the Pypes look cleaner because the can is deep under the car. Then again the Stinger is an easier install than the Pypes, no cutting needed. I am so confused!

Anybody else out there that had the Pypes Mid Muffler system?
I ran the mid-muffler system for about 8 months.
With the stock H-pipe & cats, I liked it the best out of my different setups. Loud enough, nice tone but still neighborly friendly. My favorite with the stock H & cats.
Install was a different story, the rear pass side pipe needed the hangers bent or cut & rewelded to align the tips properly, clearance between the mufflers & fuel tank covers was very tight.
When I installed LT's & removed the cats, I didn't care for the mid-muffler setup at all. It was loud & no longer had a good tone. Removed them a week after my LT's went on & went back to a chambered-style muffler (GTA's)
You can check out my youtube vids, but it is different in person.

Really? My buddy in my car club that lives by me has that on his turboed 05+ GT.. Sounds GREAT.. Then again its has forged internals and a 70mm precision turbo. Maybe that changed the sound?

Was this the one where you had the LT's, no cats, and mid-mufflers? Or was this still catted? I thought this sounded good, although yep, it might be a little too loud when you get on the throttle.
