I think this mod is not a "Power" mod but a consistency mod, pump fuel can vary a great degree and a bad batch could potentially cause some serious issues with detonation, particulalry for the forced induction guys, the Fitch catalyst will help with consistancy.

All the horsepower and economy gains that have been advertised are mere sales tools, K&N filters promise better milage and blah blah but do they, no? do they increase air flow and allow your engine to run better, yes!

I have though about this mod, prolly wont get to it until i am supercharged.

Q. How does the catalyst work?

Refineries cannot remove many poorly performing molecules to make a more ideal fuel. In addition, once fuel leaves the refinery or is stored it is subject to attack by oxygen, ozone, and microorganisms (bacteria, yeast, and mold) that grow in the fuel. All these processes degrade the fuel to make a poorer product that prevents engines from performing at optimum levels. The Fitch Fuel Catalyst reformulates fuel prior to combustion on board the vehicle, preventing oxygen and most diseases from attacking the fuel and reversing any degradation that may have occurred prior to the fuel being introduced to the vehicle. The Fitch Fuel Catalyst assists the combustion process by insuring that fuel is highly uniform, potent, consistent, and stable.
As a chemist / biologist i can't help but laugh my ass off! Bacteria living in an organic solvent? hahaha. My car is running like crap because the fuel has a disease!!:bigthumbsu p

Take in look in my profile and see how I installed mine. Mine is flipped from yours and is over on the shock tower.
I didn't install mine for mpg, but for power. I'm not sure that you would get much from it for mpg (if anything at all) since you really have to adjust your tune to account for the fuel quality change. I didn't just read articles about whether it worked or not, I installed it and had a dyno tune done before and after the Fitch install and we were able to tweak the tune to get an extra 5 hp and 8 ft lbs.
I think we added a little fuel to the ratio and bumped the timing (it was a long time ago). The A/F went weird and went a little lean with the Fitch installed...it looked on the graph like it was oxgenating the fuel somehow. We didn't know why, but it was doing it. As far as the cost of it goes, it's cheaper than underdrive pullies and can get you about the same bump in power.
I am running E10 93 octane which is the best street gas you can get octane wise so if you're running 91 or 87 your power bump (if any) would be less. The power bump was so small, I didn't feel it by the seat of the pants, but the throttle response we were able to dial in is razor sharp. I don't pretend to understand the science of why it works, but I was there and saw the dyno work and results...it's doing something right. Ken @ Modular Depot tuned mine, the tuner that's mentioned a lot in MM&FF and 5.0. He had never seen one before mine and he was impressed with it. These guys run and win NMRA a lot as well as road race and win at that so these guys know what's what. I trust these guys and also saw what happened with my own eyes so I know the Fitch is doing something good...it's just a very miniscule change and not a miracle by any definition.

sounds great, check out the site for more details.

and now that i have a steadier stream of income i am switching back to 93 and seeing how it feels. I am going to be getting a dyno tune after my hot rod cams and CMDP plate install so it will be adjusted then. For now its preventative insurance

Hoss, did you drill a hole or re-use the hole that was already there? and i was worried about bumps with it mounted there since the heat shield would absorb a little more of the impact and affect the catalyst a little less where it is currently. Your install certainly does look a lot cleaner than mine does.
