Default 2008 Mustang GT Cold Air Intake

I am trying to decide on a cold air intake for my 2008 GT. I am looking at the Steeda and JLT. The Steeda stats I have read online seem to be better than JLT, but the guy at Amazon Tuning, which is my local performance shop, says that JLT is better. Steeda is about 100 dollars more than JLT, so I didnt know if that was based on quality or just the name. Which should I go with?

Im pretty sure the JLT put up better numbers in the dyno tests than the steeda. the JLT will require a tune, Im not sure if the Steeda will.

From what I understand the 2 best are JLT II and the C&L Racer

Steeda is by far a nicer piece than JLT. Both will give you great results. It just depends on how much money you want to spend.

Do you think you`ll ever supercharge your car? If so don`t bother with the cai now.I bought 2 different cai`s, then decided to go with a Whipple supercharger, which came with it`s own cai.

Well I do want to supercharge it, but it's probably going to be quite awhile before I can afford that. I was just wanting to get some decent extra horsepower for now. Should I not do a CAI?

You should definitely get a hand held tuner, it's up to you if it's worth the money to buy a CAI to hold you over until you get a supercharger. As for the difference between the two you mentioned, it's my understanding that you get slightly better results from the JLT intake but the Steeda is a little better overall quality. If you're just getting a CAI as a stopgap until you go FI the JLT might suit you better.

Did you look at C&L? I have their racer intake. Performs great and looks great too. The heat shield leaves a little to be desired.

I have the steeda, looks great, stainless steel air box, nicely machined MAF section. It passes air just like all the other 90mm intakes.

JLT. It's cheap and performs well. Save some money for other mods.

I have the Steeda and really like it. It does require a tune. Another plus is that it can be used with the Saleen supercharger if you just happen to go with one later down the road.

Both are good intakes and both need a tune. The Steeda has a larger diameter MAF housing.

I have the Steeda Carbon Fiber CAI with SCT 93 octane tune and I'm happy with it. Planing on installing the Saleen 475 HP S/C next spring and using the Steeda CAI to feed it!
