I have a 2006 Mustang GT that is Automatic. I ate through all the stock brakes so i went down to Brothers Performance over by me a good while back. I picked up Powerslot Slotted Rotors (F/R) and Hawk Performance HPS Pads (F/R). I have been real busy and have not had time with my father to take the time out of our days and install them. I have heard stainless steel brake lines are a major increase in brake pressure. Is this true, are they worth the money? I figure i'll wait to install my goodies if i am buying the SS brake lines so i can do it all at once. Where can i find some of these? Does brand Matter? I checked into americanmuscle and they have J & M brake lines for front and rear for $242 without our discount.
Let me know everybody, i am curious. Big brake kits are out of the question for two reasons, the price and bigger problem is they won't fit with my 20's.. Opinions/experiences with these parts are needed.
Thanks in advance everyone!!!

Stainless lines are the first thing I recommend to anyone wanting better braking!
That's to much $$$ for lines though IMO.

Yea it is a bit much I have seen them on Ebay around 200.00 still a lot.
$180 for Goodridge, which are the best IMO. They are the ones that come with any $3000+ big brake kit.
Or Russel, which is what I install on the daily driver non-big brake people for $150. And my wife's car that carries our children.
People seem to claim the Russells are no good, or break off when installing, etc. If you use a freakin' 1/2" ratchet and don't pay attention you can break any fitting.
I trust my Russell rear lines at 140mph to get me stopped to turn. Had them on the front too until I got the 6 piston Brembos.

Are those powerslot rotors good? I been thinking about getting either slotted or drilled and slotted rotors... Just not sure what brand to go with for the best performance.
For those who have a 05-10 GT, how long did it take you to replace your rotors and pads in the garage?? My father is claiming 4-5hours and managed to give me another excuse for not doing it today.. I am really getting sick of this. I am about to just tackle this on thursday with my friend.

well i just did brakes and rotors on all four ends with my friend on his Jetta... and it took us about 2.5 hours... doing one rotor and pad at a time (so really only one guy working on the car at a time while the other had a beer in hand, lol).... if you have two guys working on two at one time... then figure 1.5 hours.

LOL
Tackle it on Thursday. Its ridiculously easy.
Uhm... Assuming you've never done this before ~ Process, with generous amounts of time for each:
Jack up car (5 minutes front/ 5 minutes back)
Remove wheels (5 minutes each)
Remove calipers, including mounting brackets (15 minutes fronts, 15 minutes backs)
Take off rotors (30 seconds each)
Put new rotors on (30 seconds each)
Pull pads out of each caliper (5 seconds each)
Put new pads in (15 seconds each - could be a tricky fit to get them right)
Mount calipers back over new rotors (15 minutes fronts, 15 minutes backs)
Put wheels back on (5 minutes each - including 100ft/lbs tq)
Lower car (5 minutes front/ 5 minutes back)
It should take you EXACTLY 126.7 minutes to do this.
But seriously. It should only take around 2 hours, if you take your time.
Most of that stuff will take you less time than what I said. Still though... take your time.
If you're gonna paint your darn ugly calipers while your at it (you betta! ), add maybe 3 hours onto that. You have to wait for that paint to dry!

Oh i know how the process goes, i was thinking i was missing a BIG step or something the way he made it sound.. My parents fly out to NY in a few days, and i am going to do the install in my garage with my buddy.
