Yeah...thats right.my youngest daughter (11) is crazy about the so we went to the dealer,not to buy..just to test.
It was a red ss with black stripes,auto trans and every possible option they said (37,000.00 +)
Now for my opinion : Liked the ride, nice interior, but i was litterally shocked on what a SLUG that car is. I really do not mean to bash it as it is a very nice car it seems.
I hit it from 20 mph with the guy in the pass seat and my daughter in the back and ......no hard hit, juts a slight pull. I told him that i dont think the trans shifted down and he said he thought it did.
Now for the best remark: My 11 year old daughter says"Dad , i think you did something wrong" So i hit it again from about 30....same thing.
Now i know why every camaro owner i come across will not run.I am not a bias person, so i went directly to a Ford dealer next door and took a new vert GT for a spin.Same stretch of road, same mph, the stang hit alot harder than the camaro (120 hp less) and i actually thought it pulled harder also.
Someone please go take one for a ride and let me know what they think! Juts so i know that i am not losing my mind here!!!
One thing for sure, with my limited mods now, i would tear that car up.
So, finally my daughter says..So, it may be alot slower than the mustang but it looks waay better.

i think you would need to properly break in the engine in order for you to feel the power, i mean even with an automatic and and a not broken in engine 120 more horses should make you feel a little difference, same thing happened to me when i took out a brand new 09 GT it seemed pretty slow but when i got my 08 with about 2000 miles on it then i really felt those 300 horses working hard.

Within a half hour i drove two new ones.Neither the stang or the camaro was broken in.

Well I definitely can't question your experience! I really think there may have been something wrong with that car, no question! I have driven a 400 hp 2006 GTO and a 2008 430 hp Corvette and those cars absolutely scream and set you back in the seat harder than my 2005 Mustang GT manual with mods! Something was wrong.........I am wondering if they have some valet setting for test drives if they know your not serious or something? Sounds weird though! Maybe there was a setting on the Auto trans, and it wasn't in the performance mode?? Hey did it have an auto stick option maybe something was amiss with that? I hate that though when you are expecting more and get disappointed! That happened to me when I drove the 6.4 Ford Super Duty Diesel! I thought it accelerated slower than my 6.0 Diesel!

The auto trans Camaro has 400hp at the crankshaft and weighs over 4000 lbs. I would not think that it would be much faster than a stock Mustang GT if at all. If you are used to driving a mustang with full bolt ons, its not going to feel that fast. I don't think there was anything wrong with that Camaro that you drove.
The auto Camaros are slow. GM crippled the Torque Management tuning to preserve the driveline. Many owners are pulling a couple fuses every night to reset the ECM and then driving like hell to "relearn" the programming.
Such is the consequence of putting down 400 HP and providing a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
