Default 2006 Mustang GT - Rear spoiler deletion or replacement

I've been debating on whether to remove my rear spoiler permanently off of my black 06 GT and having the holes welded shut and trunk lid repainted or replacing it with a smaller spoiler- something the size of the smaller 2010 wing with the same hole placement. I've been looking for months - does anybody offer anything like that?

I've never been a fan of rear spoilers but on the mustang I think you do 'need' something if you've got an aggressive front.

Not sure what 2010 spoiler you are talking about, the one with the mount for the rear camera? Do you have a pic of what you have in mind?

Think the closest you'll find is the GT500 spoiler. Not as small as the 2010 one.

I have lots of no spoiler pics in my profile, if you want to see one from some different angles. Might help you decide.

Thanks for the feed-back - Stock front-end. Not sure about the mount for the rear-camera on the 2010. I agree on the GT500 spoiler - that's probably the closest to what i'm looking for.

The 2010 spoiler should fit the hole configuration on yours.

Maybe so, but even if the holes line up, won't the clipped corners (angled inward over the 2010 taillights) on the 2010 spoiler be totally out of place on the 2006?

As to spoiler or no spoiler: the GT500 style rear spoiler matches up well if you add a front chin spoiler to your car. Without any front chin spoiler it looks okay with no rear spoiler.

That's right, the trunk is not the same.

Believe that's just the same same V6 07-09 spoiler on the Pony Packages, someone correct me if I am wrong.

I agree with the spoiler delete option, I think it would look better without one, somewhat different from the norm. I unfortunately had a spoiler on the car when purchased so I replaced the stock spoiler with the gt500, it is less of a visability problem than the stock one, i found it a suitable compromise of replacing the trunk. Just my opinion.

I debated this myself. I took my spoiler off the stang for about three months, as I like the Bullitt look. However after a little while without it, I decided it needed some type of spoiler other then the stock one. I now have the GT 500 spoiler now and could not be happier. It really fits well with the car and helps the agressive look. I also got the spoiler new off ebay for $115 painted and shipped, which is a heck of a deal in my opinion.

I replaced the stock GT spoiler with the Saleen Heritage retro spoiler painted matte black. I dig the retro look.

That's the direction I'm heading. The end result will be vaugely similar to a dark red Bullitt. My plan is to delete the spoiler, have the stock silver wheels painted the darker gray (like the Bullitt bullitts) and get Cervini's Concept Hood.

Another vote for no spoiler. I took the spoiler off my car and had the holes welded shut. No regrets. I love the look.
