I've seen so many times where a person who doesn't appreciate good cars wins one. It's nice to see a serviceman who is young enough (prefamily- GIRL CHASING) to really enjoy that car. The fact he opted to upgrade to a Shelby rules. That is a mustang fan. Hope he gets on the boards. To keep on task with the thread V-6 guys are cool too.

The V6 questions and haters will never stop, they are all jealous that we have Mustangs and it doesnt matter what size of the engine. Best thing to do is to just enjoy your Mustang and stop worrying about what everyone else things, it wont change their mind anyway

No matter what car you have, someone is going to give you crap for it. Its a shame other mustang drivers put down mustang drivers, but it happens. We here on this site try our best to treat all mustang lovers the same, no matter V6 or V8. Obviously if the other forums are such large jerks, come spend more time with us.

You should relax and enjoy the car. If you're this self conscious about owning a V6 Mustang you might want to consider a change. If on the other hand you do truly enjoy your car then ranting like this is unhealthy and seems foolish. Enjoy the car or get one that doesn't make you feel so self couscous.

I have to agree with fugu in that I hear alot of stuff about not having a V8 between the shock towers. It is really annoying and if you don't have anything nice to say about their MUSTANG then are not a true Mustang guy. It gets very tiring having to tell people to give me the extra $4,000 in insurance and $3,000 for the V8. After that they kind of get the idea but they still bust balls all the time.

If someone is knocking you about your V6 then its obvious that they have some serious problems of their own. To me it is all about the fantastic styling of the Ford Mustang. It is the original pony car and has outlived all others! Be proud of your Mustang because of what it is, an American icon that can't be touched by another manufacturer. Enjoy the good handling, adquate power, and the good gas mileage of the V6. I have a GT but would love to put a nice V6 beside it in my garage. I would feel the same about it as my GT. I would be proud to have them both.

Personally I've never had too much trouble with people bashing my V6 and I have respect for both V6 and GT owners. I would like to have a GT, but in my second autocross I beat a supercharged GT, that had pretty much all weight removed and had racing seats in the front plus other mods. I'm not the best driver by any means, but I agree autocross is all about the driver. We had a good time though and neither one of us bragged about our cars, we just enjoyed the day and all the great cars.

Has anyone actually compared the difference in insurance between the V6 and V8. I bet at a certain age, the difference is negligible. I didn't actually compare the prices, but my previous car was an 03 Mazda 6s. My 6mt premium was $420. When I got my 06 Mustang GT, my premium increased, but to only $476 every 6mts. Two years and a few mths later my premium dropped to $428 every 6 mths. In my case, I bet a V6 mustang would not have been that much less.

Easy there man! You know what they say about "sinking to their level".......you went a couple of extra downward. The fact that you have acknowledged your thin skin when it comes to V6 bashing just gives those "haters" more ammunition. Some folks like drag racing, some folks like illegal street racing, some folks like cone racing, and some like reading/learning about any of these but more importantly about these cars. For your racing, I would imagine tires and handling are way more important than gobs of power so the field is leveled.....a 4, 6, or 8 can play on the same court. Can make for big fun I'm sure.

Yep. Last year me and my buddy both got our Mustangs.

I got a used V6.

He was looking at the V6 and the Bullitt. He called his insurance agent(AAA) to check the rates, and the Bullitt was another $1000/year over the V6

He said, "Are you serious? I'm already 49!"

The agent said that the rate would drop a little after he turned 50.

He went with the V6 too.

The guys in my local club are cool.

Seems like practically every last one of them runs some kind of blown V8. At the meets, I'm like the only V6, and I'm parked next to Terminators with built blocks, and 600hp Saleens. There's even a lady with a Grabber Orange Super Snake.

Nobody gives me crap for having "only" a V6.

At the last car show, a guy with a Cobra replica running a fuel injected stroked 351W was checking out my car even.

Probably only the insecure people need to talk crap on other people's cars.
