I'm a member of a local tuner car forum and from day 1 I have gotten nothing but hate against my car as its never a V8
i'm had an SVO mustang
1988 2.3Turbo Swapped hatch
and now currently a 2007 Mustang Pony package with some very tasteful paint work that I have done myself.
The car performance wise is completely stock save for a muffler and a K&N filter.
Purpose for the car is a reliable Daily driver that can also be winter driven up here in Canada. The car also works perfectly well for a G-Stock autocross class that I run in the summer. I love Autocrossing and with the stock suspension my car is a blast to tear around the cones with.!
So why does there have to be so much hate towards a V6 Mustang thats so suited to what I do with it.
I'm tired of the "Girls car" doesn't have the V8 Suspension or brakes BS (which the pony actually has the V8 susp, brakes and wheels I might add)
I enjoy the fact that I save money on Insurance, Car payments and speeding tickets. With saving for a new home downpayment and tools for work this is all well.
This is the callout from the Forum locally.. as posted by myself. (i'm a Seasoned autocrosser and regularly would beat Corvettes and GT's Close but still even a 6 hundreths of a second is a beat! Lol.)
This Mustang GT b.s, ends here If you got the balls to talk saying that a v8 mustang is all that ... here is your chance to prove it.
I race my car as much as I can with the ASA (Alberta Solo Association)
This is Autocross. I don't drive straight lines unless i'm in traffic and goin down 91st street. I like to turn, my car has a steering wheel and I enjoy using it. If you think you have what it takes in your V8 GT mustang to out turn me on an autocross course then lets do it. Don't ***** out. Bring your car to the first ASA Test and tune this next season and put me in my place.
This V6 ***** , girls car, sellout **** ends here.. STFU or put your car into play.
V8 mustangs are straightline power. They can handle but only to a good driver! Blocker and Grant S. you two are the only few I have seen to properly drive these cars right.
This is it... Shut me up on V6 mustangs or put your balls on the line. I'll be there.. Bring you'r 50 hp per extra 2 cylinders and Identical suspension to the line, this is your chance to prove a V8 mustang is more then just 1 pedal efficiency. I'm Stock 100% Got what it takes, I doubt it....
This is an invite! if you beat me, i'll pay your Reg fees for the day at autocross! I'm not fuckin around with this anymore.
Quotes frm the replies:
I knew I shoulda kept my mustang for SOMEthing I woulda loved to beat you"
V6 is a girls car.. sorry man... Even I had a GT for a reason, and I AM a girl... ouch"
"I'd be willing to bet a GT, with a decent driver, will kick your V6 Mustang's ass. Not only does it have the bigger engine, but the suspension is better, the brakes are better, the final drive is different, etc...
The V6 Mustang is a girl's car. Sorry to say it, but it is. It's made for ladies and rental fleets in Hawaii.
And I'll put myself in the seat. If anyone's willing to let me run their Mustang GT, I promise I'll beat your time in any ASA event."
Put a procharger on it and the GT guys will stop calling it a girl's car.
Exactly, the game is you don't have the power, throw some FI on there and you have the cheaper insurance and better mpg as a bonus. Don't get too heated up on it amigo, what we need and what we want are two different things, as it is when it comes to using all of it.
Take a moment for clarity, a couple of those "ooooooohhmmb'sss" meditation things, and start digging into a power adder that will shock the crappola out of some people. I read about a 9 second '95 v-6 in a 'stang mag I have, dialed back for 91 octane it's a 10.17sec car I believe, nothing girlie about that crazy horse.
Chill amigo, getting a rise out of you is part of the game too, don't let it get under your skin.

I've been beat in a straightline by a 4.0 V6 Stang! We don't hate around here too much man. And you're probably right, the extra power of a GT isn't going to benefit that much on a tight autocross course. It's just that most of the time , the bigger engine is always gonna get more respect.

Man I love that new Grabber Blue. I wish termys had that as a paint option back in the day instead of the coveted sonic blue. I would have went for it over my typical black. I read about an Army guy in a recent Mustang mag that won a mustang and upgraded to a 2010 Shelby in grabber blue with white stripes. If I was buying a stang today, that would be my car. Just need to find 50k. Will I get flagged for selling a kidney on craigslist? Lol

Thanks, I love the color too, I just sit on the garage couch and stare at it, never before have I been so stunned over a vehicle's color.
Back to the thread, FI and let 'em smell the poo-finger dude!!! (got young kids, those who know, know)

your taking things too personal bud,its kinda like that maro dudes here against me.who cares honestly??i dont,if u like the car then who cares.!!u dont have to prove anything to anyone.stock for stock a gt will be faster in a straight,it all comes down to power.not many people are into autocross compared to drag racing.and if ther modded, anything can be fast.once again, dont take things personal, the people that are telling u this even after explaining why u have a v6 are obviously immature dum-dums
Ok this is why you get so much grief for owning a V6. Here in the States we are not big into Autocross we are into straight line speed and horsepower.
Autocross is based more on the driver not so much the car. You are not getting top end speed with autocross. So your V6 works perfectly for that type of racing.
The fact is a V6 is not going to beat a V8 in the 1/4 mile unless you dump alot of money into it. And if you want to compete in the 1/4 mile then you have to understand that.
Now with autocross racing it is more of a supenision issue which you are correct the V6 and V8 are the same, and if you read all the specs, Ford has been prasied for the suspension that they put into our Pony.
If you love your car then why are you worried about what others say. Your are acting like a Girl by getting upset over stupid comments.
I to own a V6 and I like to run the 1/4 mile track, but I know that I can not beat a V8. I enjoy beating the Ricers.
If you love what you do with your car and you are winning races then what do you have to feel bad about.

The best thing would be to auto-x a GT and see, for yourself why people tend to lean toward it. If you are ever in N.Idaho or E.Washington, let me know. We have an auto-x, out in Deer Park, on weekends. Drive your car, then drive my car, on the same course.
Then you will understand. Having 50% more power makes a big, big difference in getting out of the corners and steering with your foot.
You are making the argument that all things being equal (except power), the V6 is just as good/fast/nimble, in the turns. Is the GT only faster in the straights? What are you doing between the turns, in auto-X? Accelerating and decelerating. Both of which the GT does better.
If they handle equally well (V6 with the Pony Pkg), but the GT accelerates faster, I'd think the GT would win, yes?
