Default What would you do.....

I'm tied in knots here, lemme explain. I had a '08 cherokee srt8 with a corsa cat back, lower stat, udp, afe intake, and custom tune. Safe to say it ran 12.8-13's in the 1/4. I'd like to run the same with my '10 gt auto, but still use 87 octane since I have a tank with 87 for work. Is it feasable to do so with an axle back, catted hi flow x-pipe, custom tune, intake, tb maybe if there is any, shorter 255/40-19 ps2's, do I need to do gears. I wasn't crazy about the udp, messed up charging at idle and cooling. Lots od highway here so taller gears are welcome. I can see 3.73's maybe, not 4.10's, preferrably no gear swap at all, but at least 3.73's are an option. I can also do some suspension mods to improve efficiency with launch and control, as I could do an alum ds. How fast would I be in comparison.

I would love FI, a procharger or vortech I can do myself in the shop, but now I'm buying fuel out of my own pocket, lame!

What would you do if you were in my shoes, what would my estimated 1/4 time be with the bolt ons and 87.

Thanks.

Mike.

The 87 octane is going to hurt you. The 3.73s will pretty much be a must for high 12s with out FI. Skip the throttle body. Our stock ones flow awesome till about 450 hp. Changing tires is kinda expensive unless you already need to and shorter ones will look funny if the car isn't lowered. I would say intake, headers, catted X, and mufflers. A set of cams would be good too. That should about do it. Or a non intercooled Vortech setup. With just the boltons and 87 with 3.73s I think you could run 13.2-13.3. And those Cherokees are stupid fast. I would bet yours would have run 12.50s in absolute perfect conditions as I have seen stock ones run 12.90s.

Thanks for the feedback, I figured since the 255/40's come on the track-ready '10 GT they would look ok. And also drop gear ratio 2.5%. Yep the cherokee did haul arse, but I had numerous issues with it, I could write a novel. That and many were intermittent so when I arranged for the srt8 to get in the shop for warranty it was a waste of time. Only dealer in my town is Ford, best choice for convenience. Since I get about 10mpg better with the gt it is still easier to feed. Don't get me wrong, I can afford all the mods I want and the mrs pays no mind, it just makes sense if I can use the fuel I already have.

Well, how's this sound:

Intercooled procharger
Alum ds
Upgraded arms
Snow injection maybe?

Is there such thing as a 91 octane tune with FI?

?!?!? Some reason you think they would? No, not at all, the wife still drives the toys too, she can't drive stick. If it wasn't for that I'd have a '10 gt500 in the shop.

No worries Amigo! Sure the wife drives the toys, I've had some with manual trans, I like to have a non-dd on the side to play with but if her wheels are indesposed for whatever reason it sucks when she doesn't have a backup. I also have some booster seats for the kids in the car, a guy that works for me does upholstery on the side, I'm going to have him do up the seats in the same trim to match the charcoal black/grabber blue color.
