I'm debating on whether or not to get one of those pads that fit across the seat belt shoulder strap. I guess it's because I have the seat so far back (long legs), but the strap keeps getting up against my neck and it drives me nuts. I find myself tugging at it all the time. I've tried 2 different versions of those seat belt adjuster clips, but neither of them have worked (they won't stay in position, keep sliding back). If the Mustangs had a vertical adjustment on the straps like my last car, this wouldn't be an issue, but as you all know, they don't.
So, to my knowledge, the padded shoulder strap is my last possible resort. However, the only people I've ever seen using these are little old ladies and 16 year olds in Hondas sporting every foam-tape interior gadget China makes. I really don't want to join their ranks. But what choice do I have?
I figger the pad will make the belt wider, thereby encountering your neck even more annoyingly. Also, the pad will make it more difficult to get the belt to fully retract past the seat when it is time to get out of the car. My unpadded belt hangs on the seat when dissmounting unless I do a pull & tuck maneuver.

I had 2 of those, on driver and passenger shoulder belts, but i removed mine ( driver side ) for the same reason---a teenager/ cheapo addition. But i left one on the passenger side cause my girlfriend likes it.
As far as the belt hitting my neck....kinda used to now and does not bother me.
I did see a pad with "Steeda" on it but, still did not work for me...

The edge of the bare seatbelt feels like a saw in my neck, especially on long drives. I got a pair of Sparco 77 pads -- blue with twin white stripes like the outside -- to counteract the saw effect, and I'm satisfied. Just have to make sure I pull the pad down to the buckle when I depart, but that's as automatic as settling the pad to my neck.
Discomfort -- like the cramped interior of a ricer -- is optional, so I opted out. If you'd rather coordinate to the interior rather than exterior, there are non-branded and unmarked ones out there also. My dad got some sheepskin belt covers for his car that are comfortable on long rides.
Thanks for the reminder; I've been meaning to get one of these. I say don't worry about what everybody else is doing or what anybody else thinks - go for COMFORT!

I don't think it's ricer if you're getting it because you actually have a need for it. Ricer is usually goofy stuff tacked onto a car for looks, but no real function. Anything with a brand name or ad on it would probably look a little tacky. I would just try to get a plain one and make it match the interior as best you can so it wouldn't stand out so much.

To me its kinda geriatric like LOL ( if you know what that means ) but if it looks nice and comfortable for you then I say go for it, as far as rice goes , no way

but the strap keeps getting up against my neck and it drives me nuts
I felt the same, and I bought a Roush pad and used it for about a day. No good. I've adapted and put the strap under my collar. I wish the upper seat belt mount was adjustable for height.

Well, I bought one, and for now I actualy like it. Auto Zone had a solid black memory foam one with a microfiber-ish exterior, pretty thin and nondescript, for $6. Only downside is that the inside layer is microfiber as well, so it's really grippy, and doesn't slide easily along the shoulder strap. This makes it a bit awkward shifting around in the seat because the seatbelt strap REALLY tries to hold you in place. And it also prevents the seatbelt from retracting more than a few inches when I take it off. But, for now, that stuff doesn't bother me. Give it a week or so and I may not even notice it anymore.
