Speed Limit

hi! this is my first post in this forum, so i'll better say something about me first:
i am not yet a lucky mustang owner in fact i drive a completely different car (merc c-class). nevertheless i am here to get the latest news on the 2005 'stang!
i am from germany and we have (as some might know) no such annoying thing like a "speed limit" on the highways (autobahn). so if you feel like driving 300 Mp/h you can do so. my car only does about 140 mp/h but thats still enough to overtake some people

!
i read somewhere that the new mustang would have a governor restricted speed limit of 119 mp/h !!! is there any way of getting rid of this annoying "freedom-taker"??? if not i won't import one - simple as that caus' whats the point of having a 200 or 300 hp car and knowing that all the volkswagen-golf-diesel-drivers can go past you on the autobahn

No GT has ever had a speed limiter so I don't see why they would start using one now. The V6's do have a speed limiter at 116 mph, though. An aftermarket chip can fix the problem but the 05 Stang has a whole new computer so it may take a while for chip manufacturers to make a chip for that car. But, as previously stated, the car won't have a limiter to my knowledge. We will know more in the upcoming months.

I got an 98 vert and it will not do over 120. it has a fuel cut off

Models without Z rated tires are speed limited. I have read that the GTs have a limit at 145 Miles per hour. This is removable using costume tunes. I have read that the 3.55 gears are optimum for top speed. They compared HP requirements to push the S197 through the air and at what RPMs the engine was making the required HP/ torque. My GT has not been over about 125. It was still pulling hard when I backed off. I remember a mustang add from a while back. A man was unloading his stang off a ship in Europe because he couldn't find any suitable speed limits in the U.S. Have fun.

I believe the GT-500 is electronically limited to 155 mph or so. I can't remember.

If you're looking for a classic American performance car for sustained high speed cruising, then you probably want a Corvette, not a Mustang. You can buy those in Europe...top speed is 186 mph (at least) for the base C6.

It also has the brakes, suspension, electronics (active handling, variable power steering, etc.), large gas tank, and aerodynamics to be driven right up to it's top speed.

If you do get a Mustang GT, then I'd at least upgrade the brakes. The car is fine for cruising up to and around 100 mph, but if we're talking sustained (not short bursts) speeds of 120 - 140 mph, then I'd want bigger brakes at the least.

The BMW M3 has an electronically governed top speed of 155 mph. Imagine blowing by one in a Corvette doing 160 or 170 mph and knowing there is nothing he can do about?!
