Hey Corky 05- I hear you! The only time the dealer called me was to get me to bring my Denali to them early. I figured 6-8 weeks for the new ride, what the hell. They sold it in 2 hours and made an extra $4500.00. sweeeettttttttt!!!. Not even a thankyou kindly call back. I didn't want the hassle of a private sale, so I kind of knew ahead on that deal. I'm C&U as of 2-9-05. My order was submitted on 12-06-04. Keep me/us posted as I'l do the same.

Default Just what are the dealers afraid of ?

Sorry in advance that this is so long, but you'll understand after you read it. I am amazed at the number of people having the same problems I am with getting information from their local Dealer. I ordered my 05 Silver GT back on Nov. 17th with every option except the locking wheel lug and Shaker 1000. I have had to call the salesperson almost everytime to get updates. First it was to be shipped on Jan. 10th. So I called Jan. 10th and oh, the salesman misread the dates and that was the actual build date. So it should be getting to Distribution center in Salt Lake City by Jan 21st. So again I called on the 21st, and the response was that they didn't know if it was there yet, the person who checks was out of the office for last couple days. I asked the salesman to call me just to update me, which he said he would the next day, good or bad because he was going to check into it personally. Yeah right, he got so busy Saturday that he could not call, so he leaves a message Monday telling me "GOOD NEW" it has arrived in SLC and after an inspection, they were looking to get it on the next truck ASAP. Should have it by the weekend, the 29th or 31st at the latest. So Friday the 28th I called, oh guess what? The person at the dealership that checked on it got the VIN number mixed up and it was someone else's GT. Right, but yours just arrived and will be inspected and shipped right out, we are all over it. Hey, I should have it no later than Monday Feb. 7th. It's Monday the 7th and alright, the salesman actually called, he left me a message that, oh it was delivered but to Kansas City not Salt Lake City and the salesman goes on to say in his message that he doesn't want to tell me anything more since he has been wrong every time and that he will call me when it arrives here. I only asked for two things from this dealership. 1) Get me a vin number so I could pay for the vehicle in 2004, which they did and I paid them in full in December, surprise - surprise and 2) just keep me up to date on it's progress good or bad. I didn't trade in my 2001 GT so its not like I'm high and dry without a vehicle. At this point I'm concerned about just how much I can trust this dealership when it comes time for service, which it sounds like, this first years production will have a bit of. I sent Ford an email asking for the production date on the VIN. We will see if I get that today, did it the 8th. From the postings on VIN production I don't think that it would have even been built till the first week in Feb. the car is just under 47800 off the line at the facility. When I get the production date, the sales manager at the dealership and I, are going to have a little conversation and not over the phone. What ever happened to honesty in Sales ??? It's not like a dealer can do anything about production delays, shortages or demand. So why are they so afraid of just telling all of us the plain truth ?

I call the 1-800 number every day, and get the same, tired message, clean, unscheduled, not serialized. Does this message really ever change? Are we all calling this # every day? I told my salesman I am seriously thinking C6 Corvette, that I am getting tired of the wait. (And disturbed by the problems showing up here from those that now have their cars). My head is swimming. Waiting since 11/16/04. Just venting. Thanks.

Just talk to a real person. I couldn't get the vopc to understand my vin so I ask to speak to a real person. She told me my car was booked and an ETA of the week of 2/28. I've talked to a real person several times at the 800# and they have been more than friendly and helpful.

Default Automated Order Verification

Did the person on the 1800 number ask you if you were a dealer when you called with your VIN ???

You gotta be close man. I was like you...had they gone another month C&U, I was thinking '06. You should think about setting a drop dead date for yourself, especially if you can stand to wait. Are you putting 10" red stripes on yours too?

No just asked for my name and vin #. The first time I called they asked for my dealer # but they did not even ask for that the second time.

Does anybody think that they (Ford) really cares? Or that they have a database with every employee name from the thousands of dealers in the US & Canada?

I spoke with the 'Analyst' once when the automated system didn't recognized my order. She asked for my name and what the heck I gave her my real name. After all what's she going to do - Hang up on me ?!?!? Anyway, I told that the car was mine and that I was wanting to check on the status. She didn't care.

If anything happens - I hope that Ford gets back to the dealer and gripes them out for not checking on the order themselves and keeping the customer well informed. Ah, the heck with well informed -I'd be happy if the dealer would just return my phone calls.

I'm past 9 weeks and C&U-Not Serialized. I'll wait to the end of the month, if the status doen't change I'm going to cancel the order and go with the 2005 Pony Drive X-Plan.

Default red stripes

I'm going for the "painted" 10" red stripes with matching lower body side stripes like the boy racer. I'm also thinking the 18" rims from the 2006 GT or some halibrands with knockoffs to look retro like the old AC cobras. Man am I getting tired of waiting. When I get it I'll have to cruise over to the tri-cities and see yours.

Thumbs up Dealer Update - Stang lost in Transport

Well, I decided to have that discussion with Salesman and Sales manager. Stopped into Dealership on Sat. Salesman saw me pull up and came right over. I just laid it all out to the salesman, in a professional manner. He took it all and stepped up and took responsibility for the poor post sales support. Actually very pleased with his stance. After our talk he brought in his sales manager and explained the situation to him, that surprised me . The sales manager wanted to jump right into finding out where my stang was, took a minute for the salesman and I to make him realize that was not why I was there. Yeah, I want the stang now but what you gonna do. Anyway, I hoping to get this relationship back on track becuse I want a good dealer standing behind me when we get to fixing any problems that come up with the new stang. My 2001 GT has 50K miles and not one problem to date, but I have a feeling this one will be a little different !!!

Good news is it's built and on the road, bad news is it's got a transportion status, they showed me the paper work, that is not on their legend, SP ? Hopefully they will track it down Monday.

So we will see how this relationship progresses. My advice, hope it works for me, is to forget that phone and and go sit down with the dealer and make it clear what you expect for sales support. Make sure you let them know that you realize that they can't do anything about production delays or other problems before it get to them but that you expect them to be your partner when dealing with Ford before you get your Stang and more importantly after. Ok, so maybe I'm dreaming, but it's worth a try.

Thumbs up Hello, This is my first message

I really have enjoyed all the replies that have been left on all the threads.

Well, I would like to state that Ford needs to do more Q & A on their mustangs. I too have had issues with my dealerships.

The first one accepted my order on 12/18/04, then called me after the New Year stating that the IUP was denied, then told me that there was going to be a $5,000 mark-up.

I was informed about AFM, and contacted Fred-Fred. He was so knowledgable about the issues with the mustang that we agreed on a price. Then Las Vegas called that same day, and they were going to accept the X-Plan on my vert. I called Fred-Fred back, and he understood. After I placed the order with Vegas, I had to wait for the Order Number and the Dealer Number. The good news is that my mustang was the only one that Ford picked from that dealership and my Mustang GT Vert will be built starting on 2/14/05.

I have read that some mustangs were taking only 4 weeks and some were taking 8 weeks. Also, I read that the mustangs take 22 hours to produce. Any comments?
