I live in Santa Maria and my dealer was in San Luis Obispo (about 30 minutes north). My pony came by rail into Mira Loma, CA (down by San Bernardino) and then by transport truck to San Luis Obispo.
I'm sure yours will also come by rail but I'm not sure where the rail terminus would be for Santa Rosa. Possibly Oakland? or Sacramento?
This is the hardest part ..... waiting ....... forever .......

DOH!! I thought that was the name of the town. I'll tell you the wait for this order is a pleasure, compared to the experience with the local Santa Rosa dealer (Hansel Ford). If you would like to read about that nightmare go to the thread discussing good, and bad expeirences with vendors, and dealers. You are probably right about the rail drop off, it will most likely be Sacramento. Our two GT's will be similar. I ordered the Redfire, IUP, GT Appearnce pkg., 18" Polished Wheels, and Auto.(Yeh, Yeh I know real Mustangs don't have Autos.), but I'm 63, and live in heavy traffic, and I'm tired of shifting. I've had a 66 GT Fastback, and 97 Cobra both manuals. I will not be racing this one, but I think I can still injoy the accelleration, torque, and sound.
Ron
P.S. Ordered this one from W.C. Sanderson Ford in Healdsburg. What a great experience there.
Hey - I won't throw any grief your way regarding an auto. I drive mostly rural highway so minimal shifting is required. When I'm stop and go around town I sometimes think my next pony will be auto. We'll see ... that'll probably be another 9 years from now! (My previous car was a 96 V6 Mustang which I bought new.)
You have excellent taste going with Redfire! I'm extremely happy with mine. When it's sitting in the sun, the metallic flakes just make that color POP!!

Yea... two years here and the car is pretty much totally rebuilt.... Was worrying back then of finding one at sticker (got it at X-price) and then I go and spend another sticker on mods... But oh what fun!!

Once your Stang's been built and shipped from the factory, your dealer should be able to get the railcar number from the fine Ford folks in Flat Rock. With the railcar number, you'll be able to track your Stang across the UPRR system as it makes its way to your garage. Check out the links below:
Sensors as set up on the tracks every few miles so the trace is constantly being updated. From time to time, I punch in the railcar which my Stang was carried on just to see where it is now: ETTX908408.

Thanks for the links GTEUPP. I emailed Ford CS last night, and gave them the VIN. I got a response today stating that my Mustang has been serialized, and is awating scheduling. They suggested that I keep in contact with the dealer, as he can track it easier??

3_stang,
Post#3 on the first page of this thread gives details on how to query Ford's automated system. I also found this on another forum when I had ordered my Stang and didn't want to bother my dealer every day for my status update (I updated the model year in this post to 2007 - everything else should work the same):
"..Call (800) 962-3746 to get Ford Vehicle Status System....Press 1 for Automated Inquiry System....you will then be asked various voice responses questions. If searching for a Ford vehicle...say Ford into the sytem. It will then ask for the 5-digit Dealer code...my dealer was F27009...you drop the letter and respond with just the 5-digit numbers. It then asks if searching by VIN or Order number. I only had my order number...so you say search by order number. It will the ask for your model year...say 2007 into the system. It then asks for the body type code...in my case, my Premium Mustang GT code was T82. Finally it asks for the Order Number...which in my case was a 4 digit number.
I asked for a copy of the order printout so I could verify that they had entered the correct option codes. The order sheet has the Dealer Code, Order Number and Body Type data that I could then use in this automated system to find out my build status. Hope this helps all the rest of the folks like myself who are waiting for their Mustangs track the build and delivery status/dates."
You will need to speak very slowly and clearly to the automated system. I never had any luck feeding my VIN number to the Evil Robot Lady (ERL) so I always used my order number which you should be able to find on your Order Confirmation Sheet which (hopefully) your dealer provided to you. Also, the body type code (ie: T82 or T85) may be found in the 5th, 6th & 7th positions of your VIN number.
