I just called to check on the status of my GT coupe and the cyber-lady said that Ford is closed for the Holidays I guess even the UAW computers get the holidays off at Ford
Hey KD05GT, . . . This missing inaudible word that you're looking for is "Foreign". It means that your car has been built at the AAI plant and is ready/cleared for shipment.
My Perf White GT with IUP,ICAP, Auto Trans & Bullits that I ordered on Dec 9th is now statused as of today'Shipped by Convoy Carrier'. It's build week was this week.
Too bad I canceled the order from my dealer on Feb 16th after 10 weeks of being C&U. The order got serialized the next day. I re-ordered with Fred-Fred on Feb 16th and I'm still C&U.
If anybody wants my original order the GT should be at Randall-Noe Ford in Terrell TX in a couple of weeks.
Where is the AAI plant? It did sound like "foreign". Thanks!
Finally have a VIN#, stinks because i want to find out the build date and have to wait for Ford to open back up next week, 800 vixen says sorry were closed and hangs up. Last weekend was a false alarm but not now cause we have our VIN. now for sure it won't be too much longer.
I don't know who came up with Ford starting to build the 06's in June, but that is incorrect. Ford does not retool their factory's for the next model year until late September or early October. Plus they recently started to roll out the convertable 05 mustangs, so their not going to be starting the 06's for quite awhile. Ford just increased production to 80,000 more mustangs for the 2005 model year. I highly doubt that Ford will be able to make 80,000 more cars between now and June.
I got a call from my dealer last Friday and he told me my Mustang GT will be built real soon and I will be taking delivery in early May. I ordered on 2/14, and was told 12-14 weeks.
Actually you are incorrect on several counts. Model year change over at the plants is generally the beginning of August after the july summer shutdown. The new models typically go on sale in september after stocks of new cars appear at the dealers. Of course this can vary for new models. They can appear earlier or later depending on when they are ready. There aren't going to be any signigicant changes to the 06 mustang so ford could start building them at any time, but the switchover will be the usual beginning of august. There will only be 30,000 additional cars built and that is for the 2005 calendar year not model year. The 80,000 usnit number refers to the increase over the last year of production of the old car. I have been working in the auto industry for almostg 20 years now and I now what I am talking about on this one.
It's getting close for me! My car is traveling via railcar right now. Does anybody know a way of getting the railcar#? I know how to track railcar locations and would be willing to help anyone out if they need to track theirs too. Thanks!
I was given the rail car number by my dealer. Any information you can provide on tracking the rail car would be appreciated. I have been waiting 4 months and am beginning to get impatient during this last week. My Silver GT w/IUP was supposedly shipped via rail on the 19th and scheduled for delivery the week of the 26th (which is tomorrow). I have seen a few people whose cars took 2 weeks from shipment to delivery and hope that my deliver date is accurate.

Actually Ford will be doing the retool and starting up production in early August is correct. They will start up production for 06 model son August 8th. They will be shutting down August 6th to perform the retool. All 05 to be completed was in June but that was extended until early July, to have everything in and time to finish the last builds of 05's.
i ORDERED MY PREMIUM MUSTANG GT with interior upgrade on 12/04/04.
Just got a call from the dealer telling me that it is suppose to be deliverd on 04/08/05.
Sounds good. Then he told me that the date may change because it seems like there is a 3wk delay. So I may not see it until MAY 1st .
That will give me time to pay down my VISA bill. That's the only good to come out of this crap.

Hours of fun!!
Hopefully I have a car to put it all on in a week or two...

Is it possible for a dealer to have NO allotment. The dealer I ordered from has only had one 05 on his lot period. That was last November. I pass by this dealership 4 or 5 times a day and no Mustangs have been there since then. This is a small dealership that is mainly doing truck business. The salesman told me that they had only ordered 1 GT (mine) and 1 v-6 for another guy. It is odd that there have been zero mustangs of any style on his lot for 4 months, considering how popular the car is. It is really of no consequence to me since I found a GT at another dealer last week and bought it. I am, however, going to continue to track the build of the car I originally ordered out of curiosity. It is still c/u after being ordered on 12/10/04. I doubt the dealer will cancel the order for the car, since he can sell it in a heartbeat, or have some serious trade bait for other dealers. I know where there will be a black on black GT if it's ever built, if anyones interested.

My dealer is a high volume dealer but have gotten NO floor GTs, a bunch of V6s, including verts but no GTs... I will get GT #3 through their dealership and they are amazed when I tell them what's going on at Ford, mostly from information on this web board... GT #1 & 2 was ordered a few weeks before mine... Our district are are outa allotment (Still 04 Stangs on the lots) but with a 'Truck dealer' and Priority 2 it comes quicker... Right, G-Guy...??

Hey everyone. I have been reading this site a lot lately and decided to finally register and post. I ordered my Premium GT on 2/12 and they are going to build it the week of 3/28. I have confirmed this with both the 800# and my dealer. My question is how long does it take to get your car after it is built? I live in St. Louis, MO and it is coming from the Flat Rock plant. Is there still a shortage of rail cars?

KJ....I agree. But, from what I'm reading here and elsewhere, I consider myself very fortunate. The stars, sun and moon aligned correctly for me at just the right time.
I found a dealer who doesn't have the best of reputations who prioritized me with their "#2" designation that they use for "special circumstances". They, surprisingly, didn't "jack me around" on X plan. And, I got extremely lucky in having mine shipped to the dealer the same day it was built...arived at the dealer the day after it was built.
Some of this has to do with my close proximity to Flat Rock, MI (just a "truck" ride away....not a train and truck ride).
I also think it helped that when I placed my order, our geographic area was coming off one of the worst winters in recent memory. I think my dealership wasn't quite sure whether they were going to get stuck with Mustangs sitting on the lots for a month or more because there was still a lot of snow on the ground when I ordered....and more was predicted. Plus, my dealer is known more for their truck business than they are their car business. Their "bread and butter" is fleet truck business.
Now that the weather has cleared up and they understand that Mustang business is the hottest thing in all of the car biz, I doubt I would have been able to.....#1-get X plan pricing.....#2-get a high priority number....#3-not be subject to some of the "dealer installed options" mark-up that is regularly practiced. Plus, I live within 2 miles of the dealership and pass it every day. If they tried to give me some story about my car not coming in, it wouldn't have been too difficult to see it on their lot.
If I were to order one today, it would have been MSRP (or higher) and at least a 12 week wait.
Personally, with Spring right here, I think the situation is going to get worse, not better. Anything hitting the dealer's lot in the form of a convertible or GT will be sold the same day it hits, if not before. My dealer is taking no more orders for GT and convertible Mustangs for the '05 model year. They do have "stock" units coming in and is taking deposits on them. $1K over MSRP is the price, no plans, no negotiations.
I've been getting calls from all the local dealerships telling me they have allotment left and they'll place an order for me. I tell all of them that mine has already come in and I bought it on X plan. They all say the same thing...."good for you, but we still won't do an X plan deal....even on an order."
Maybe the market will losen up a bit for the '06s, but most dealers already have a line of people who have ordered those (since they can't get an '05). So, even the first '06s that hit will go to those on that waiting list.
I don't see it lossening up until mid-'06 model year for Mustangs, if then.
While I don't know whether to believe my dealer, the GM says I could sell mine right now with a nice ad in the paper for MSRP (which is about $2.5K more than I paid figuring in the price increase that mine was price protected on)...even though it's now considered "used". Another dealer (Kings Ford) is selling GTs that were some sort of "program cars" for MSRP....and they all have over 1,000 miles on the odometer.
