Hi wantonebad05. I am not sure of your location. I am from Canada so I searched the Ford Canada website and got the name of the VP of Marketing. His name is Mike Herniak. I wrote him a letter expressing my concerns about Fords inability to get timely information out on the status of cars being built under factory order requests from customers. This letter was followed up with a personal call to me from Peter Jansen the Ford Canada Mustang Brand Manager. We had a great discussion about the My Color Option and the popularity of the Mustang. Peter went out of his way to insure my Mustang would be built exactly as ordered. I know there are equivalent positions to these two individuals in the United Sates. Ask your dealer or do a little internet digging.

In my letter to Mike Herniak, I told him I was a hugh mustang fan and that there were alot of us out there around the world. I went on to say that information and news travels quickly on the internet. People make decisions based on this news (eg. My Color Lawsuit, Lack of 5 Speed Transmissions) and may decide to purchase a different brand or cancel there factory orders all together. I also reminded him of the great history the Mustang has had since its debut in 1964 and that back in the 60's Ford came up marketing strategies such as the "Special Order Holding Program" which was designed for dealers to hold the orders they had placed and to prevent cancellation. I think they sent out timely letters reminding the customer that they were important and they included promotional gifts such as models of the 65 and 66 fastback.

As I said in my earlier post, I developed a good relationship with my salesperson at the dealership and get timely updates on the cars progress. I wasn't expecting a personal call from the top guns at Ford but I have to admit getting the phone call eased my concerns reinforced my decision to stick with the Big Blue Oval.

Once again... can anyone explain the meaning of the "priority code"?

Mine is 12, and I am still clean & unscheduled since 11/16/04. Thanks.

I'm still a noob at all this, so someone correct me if I'm screwing this up: Best I understand, the lower the number the better. A 10 is the lowest the dealership can assign and they go up to 50. If memory serves, 1-9 are for fleet sales and 51-99 are for lot orders. Fom what I understand, the priority system basically a waiting line setup by the dealer, but it's not always first-come first-served.

Each dealership's priority numbers are only internal to that dealership, AKA they don't compete with other dealerships. So a 10 at one dealership MAY be delivered after a 45 at another dealership (probably because the latter has a higher allocation).

A priority 12 will be "pulled" next, unless the dealership has a 10 and 11 in front of you. However, even if you're a 12, if your order includes a restricted commodity, it won't get pulled until the commodity is released.

So how far off was I??

That's very interesting to know. My order is a priority 10 and was actually placed through the fleet sales department. I was able to use a "G" plan (which allowed me to order at 2% below invoice) and I guess all plans are handled through fleet sales at the dealer I used. Still, I ordered mine on November 16 & as of January 27th, I was C&U. Rrr.

KABUKI- You've got to be kidding! What's your status via the 800#. I don't even want to talk w/ anyone at the place I ordered from. It's like a blank piece of paper or watching this snow melt

Does anyone know how to access "concepts" on the web...to check order status? That is mentioned on the 1-800 number when you call for status update. Can only the dealer access "concepts" ?

Default 05 Mustang GT status

I ordered a Black 05 Mustang GT with auto trans, shaker 1000, active anti theft, and wheel locks on 12/30/04. My dealer said the car should take 8 - 10 weeks to come in. My sales guy gave me a vehicle order confirmation paper. It has all of my order information on it, but what i'm curious about, my order # is 0001 with a priority 99. Also, the order type is 1 and the order code is 140A Cust/Flt. I called the 1-800 number and i get a message "no status information was found for the vechicle information you provided" I hoping this information is not correct because I can't see how Ford can have no record yet. Anyone have any ideas what could be the hold up?

That's all I ever got when I called. My dealer told me Monday that I have a build date of 2/7 and he gave me the VIN for my car. When I called the 800# with my vin I could not get the auto system to ever understand the 17 digit vin. I have been reluctant to speak with someone at this # because this is for Ford dealers only and the more owners who speak to somone may cause Ford to change this #. Does anyone have any suggestions. The order type 1 is the same as mine don't know what it means. 140A has something to do with the car you ordered If you price your car on Kelly Blue Book they show T82/140A. 140A may mean GT deluxe and the T82 may mean you ordered the prem. Good luck hope this helps.
