so i'm pretty much set to buy a gt premium. unfortunately, a gt at the local dealer lot that matches nearly all of my wants already has 60 miles on it. i don't like this fact since i'm guessing that the vast majority of those miles were hard driven ones. but the pro is that i can drive off the lot with the gt in 3 days (waiting for my loan to clear).
do you think it's still worth it for me to pick it up, or should i wait and get something delivered straight to me. i was hoping for something under 10 miles... do you think 60 miles is a big deal?
btw, this is my first car purchase, so i'm a complete novice at this.
Well, you asked for opinions, so I'm SURE you'll get a BUNCH. I used to sell cars, so I can tell you that there's any of a number of reasons for a car on the lot to have that kind of mileage, and most of them are legitimate and wouldn't bother me a bit. I say if its got the gadgets you want and the price is right... BUY it.

Sometimes Ford engineers will pull a car and go through the entire car and drive it a little bit. There should be a sticker next to the window sticker that states Ford drove the car. To some collecters this extra sticker makes the car worth more. They think that since the Ford people drove the car it is special. Do not let a dealer tell you that Ford execs. drove the car if there is not a extra sticker to prove it. Good luck.
Sounds like a "Used Car" to me! LOL see if they will cut you a deal. Every car I bought came straight off the line...... Less than 4 miles on the O.D. when I took it.
mine had 18 miles on the odometer, but the dealer had to trade his silver one with another dealer to get me the black one I wanted, so he had to drive it a decent distance to get it back. Didn't mind - and now that I see so many people on this board are waiting a few more weeks to get theirs, I am glad I pushed that dealer to go get me the black one when I did.
So the miles on mine made sense, but 60 would make this old man a little nervous, especially after the other thread that thunder 05 posted.
60 miles is nothing to worry about, if it was 600 then yes somethingis wrong. It probably was driven at the factory to check for manufactoring problems. Or it could have been the first GT the dealer got and was driven on alot of road tests. At the dealer I work at we got 5 GT's in on one day and all but one (was already sold) recieved a bunch of mileage that day. Beside aren't you going to flog it as well? Remember bumper-to-bumper warranty if anything happens it will be repaired. The simplest thing to do is ask why this new car has 60 miles... Just buy it and enjoy! I won't have mine until late Dec. or Jan.
when we went to test drive the gt we had had about 45 miles on it i think and the dealer said it was from ford testing so i would assume that is it but if you aked im sure they would tell you

here is a pic of the sticker az05 is talking abought
If it were me I'd honestly wait for one to be delivered directly for me. I could wait the extra months for the piece of mind of knowing for the most part what the car has been through. But thats just me.

I was told they were road tested before delivery from Michigan, between 16 and 26 miles on all of them
that is bull. plain and simple.
Ford does not have the time or want to spend the resources to test drive every car they build....for that many miles. Maybe from the line to the holding lot.
Dino one posted above ...his had 4 miles on it. Does that mean they missed his? No

Mine HAD the sticker on the window stating the car was road tested in Michigan for 26 miles, did they make that and put it on the car to fool me? Don't be so quick to discredit, especially with zero facts, and the one with 4 miles is the only one I had ever heard of , the dealer where i got mine had 4 others, all the same sticker, all the same miles. And since you don't work for Ford Thunder, I'm very sure they wouldn't want you acting as their spokesman on the process of quality control/testing....
