Angry Screwed By Dealership Today!!!

I ordered a 05 Premium GT on Oct 21st from the dealership that "supports" the local Mustang Club. The deal they made with me and other club members was $500 over factory invoice.

My car was supposed to be built today and delivered by the end of the month or early January!

However, today I get a call from the dealership and am told that they are no longer going to honor this price and that ALL NEW MUSTANGS WILL BE SOLD AT MSRP OR NOT AT ALL

Needless to say that I am NOT PAYING MSRP for any car much less one that I had ordered at $500 over invoice!

I am telling everyone I know NOT TO BUY ANYTHING from this dealership.

The dealership is Freeway Ford in Houston, Texas!

I ordered the car through the inventory manager who is a VP in the local Mustang Club. He has always been a "straight shooter" and has sold many cars to Club members for $100-$200 over invoice.

However, the dealership recently changed hands and the new owner is more interested in turning a profit than customer relations or Mustang enthusiast.

That sucks. When I bought my car, I got it for $3000 under invoice.

Of course mine's a slow and not as attractive '03...

Most dealers are trying to put the screws to everyone buying new mustangs, Here in New Orleans a 05 GT manual is $33k... I was like yeah right the manager of the stealership tried to tell me thats the cheapest I'm gonna find them any where. Needless to say I had the print out in my truck, (on the window sticker) Dealer Interior Upgrade: $1200.00 Acutal: $450, when I showed him that his eyes got all big and he started to stutter.. I told my g/f lets get out of here I'm not buying anything from these crooks. A couple that was looking at the same car with us left as well................ I got my mustang 05 gt premium with upgrade for $28 out the door.

Welcome to the world of supply & demand. I was lucky to get $500 off the MSRP, just because the owner is good friends with my father in law. The other 5 dealerships laughed at me when I told them I wouldn't pay sticker or msrp for the car. As everybody knows, these cars are flying off the Ford lots, unlike their trucks or suv's.

First Post:

I just ordered my GT Premium Package with some extras.......
I was quoted by one dealer 10% over MSRP. Then I went to another dealer that always offer thier fords below MSRP. They said they would hook me up 50 bucks below. On my way to order my car, another dealer called me. I told him that I was going to order a car from Drew Ford at 50 bucks below MSRP(GT Prem), he said that he could give me 500 below MSRP in writting, so I had him email it to me and went to his dearlship the next day to place my order. BAM

Hey-

While it might not seem that fair they seem to be making a habit of it

I'm from Memphis and they're trying to turn extra profits on them here too

Just remember - Ford can crank these cars out much faster than they can sell them

You shouldn't sweat high prices now if you have some patience - it'll catch up to the dealers and the prices should come down soon at least to msrp

But keep us posted on how you do finding the car for the price you want

Have a good day

The dealer that I bought my 03 from called me and told me to come in and look at the 05 GT they had in the showroom. I was starting to get interested till I looked next to the sticker and there was another sticker that said $3000 high demand dealer add on.I just said they were crazy and left.

Yeah a dealer near me has a v6 they want $31K for... the members of the Mustang Club that were there, were like, yeah right!!!

I guess these dealers are more about profit and relationships..

they will be asking less as supply increases..

I got my '05 GT for invoice with x-plan. The dealership I bought it from didn't even blink when I told them I qualified for the x-plan. The first dealership I went to however, gave me the usual "we might not be able to do it because demand is high" but they did give me the price eventually. I did not buy from them because the sales manager did not take me seriously and thought I was not going to buy. He never gave me an answer on how long to order a custom one. I am just North of Dallas.
