Default 4.10 gears?

I've seen that 2005RedGt had put the Motive 4.10 gears on his GT. What does this do for the car over the stock gears? More speed? More acceleration? What?

The engine will have to turn at a higher rpm to achieve the same speed as the smaller gearing, makes it quicker off the line and more responsive but reduces mpg and top speed. 2005RedGT in previous discussions recommended a 3.73 gearing for us daily drivers, gives more pep but does not destroy the mpg,s as much.
Note*
When this change is performed the pcm will have to be reprogrammed to get the mph correct.
