I'm sure it happens, but not often, I don't know any one who's had it happen to them. Only a kid is gonna steal a factory stereo, I don't think they can be used in any other cars, so who would want it? AND they are HARD to get out, a theif can't just rip it out like they can an after market head unit. Plus,believe it or not, $1300 don't go very far when buying GOOD stereo equiptment and having it installed. Mid range...$400 for the head unit, $500 for the amp, $400 for speakers... and you still haven't got the extras or the install. Maybe get a sticker that says "this stereo will not work if removed", like Toyotas have.
