Default Interesting Radio Question 500 vs 1000 harness???

Does every mustang have the harness for the trunk subwoofer already installed but just not used? I ordered a Shaker 500 but have access to a shaker 1000 radio head.

Looking to upgrade to the shaker 1000 but wont do it if I need to run wires all the way back to trunk!

Any Help appreciated from someone who either knows or a current owner that can comment if t he connections are in the trunk but not used...passenger side of trunk probably behind the carpet lining!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU

im sorry that i can't give you a definite answer. but, i'd be willing to bet they share the same harnesses. this is the case most of the time in ford vehicles.

Are the 500 and 1000 HUs different, other than the labeling? Do they have an amp for the front and rear speakers(I know the sub in the 1000 has to be a seperate amp), or is it internal power in the HU?

I have seen a couple of 1000s and 500s for sale on Ebay, I am looking for a 6 cd changer with MP3 to put in my new body 04 F-150. If the units are higher power than the standard CD6 I might go with the Shaker.

Any Ideas?

Hi Whome -

Based on all the complaints about the Shaker 500 and 1000 in other threads on this board, I would stay away unless you can get them dirt cheap. I wish I could cancel the Shaker 500 off my Mustang order.

I saw a 500 go for $255 with all four speakers included. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

Are the problems just with the Shaker units, or all of the CD6/MP3 HUs?

I am speaking from what I have seen others post: Sound quality is very good, but there is plenty of CD skipping (on smooth driving surfaces) and disc rejection. I have not seen any comments on the single CD player, all comments have been regarding Shaker 500 and 1000 only.

Maybe not such a good deal after all. I am still interested to know if they are a higher power than normal.(for when they get the skipping and error problems fixed)
