Default Should I buy a 2005 Mustang GT?

OK, I am 27 yrs old, I've always wanted a mustang GT, but I've never owned one. I have a 2003 honda accord, 2003 jeep grand cherokee, and a 86 GMC. I'm married with two kids. I really love the new mustangs and I've got the green light from the wife to get one. I will be selling the honda accord, but we will still have the grand cherokee for the family. I've been frequently visiting this site for a few weeks now and have really enjoyed it, recently I've read quite a few posts regarding problems with the 05 GT(shaker system, trans noise, fuel tank, etc). What do you guys think, should I get one or should I just be content with my boring family vehicles? Some of my friends are saying not to ditch the honda for the mustang, what do you guys think? Thanks!

My own personal experience with the Mustang has been fantastic. I have had an occasional skip from the CD player, but other than that, I have a great experience to date and say you should go for it. This car is awesome...phenomenal looks and a great powerplant. GT 5-speed is the way to go!

I went from driving a '97 Honda Civic 4-door automatic, to my GT! Talk about different ends of the continuum!!

Since you got the green light from the head lady in your household, you better move!!!

When the Mustang came out, I WAITED. Saw them on the road but I WAITED. Figured I'd get an 06 so all the bugs were worked out so I WAITED. Went in to the dealer didn't have any in stock so I WAITED. Finally figured out I wanted it and wanted it now. Went to the dealer and ordered on 11-29-04 and now I'M WAITING. If I'd just got off my indecesive butt and ordered when I first thought of it I would have the Mustang NOW. Instead I'M WAITING and WAITING and WAITING.

As of 1-18-05 I'm clean and unscheduled, not serialized. From what I read I could get it in 6 weeks to NEVER. Don't wait. Get to your Ford Dealer and order it now. Or, go to Fred-Fred's feedback thread, look for his contact info and order from him. Whatever you do "DON'T WAIT" I regret my indecision about not ordering earlier. Instead of driving around in a hot Mustang, I'm plowing around in an 03 Excursion...No comparison. Go, quit reading this and call Fred-Fred or get to your dealer. Oh, one more thing, DON'T PAY OVER MSRP!

I've got two words chkennedy1:

Hell YES!

My situation was very similar to yours now. My wife finally relented. You do it now while you can. The car is a blast. Go for it!:thumbsup

To relate to you, I am 26 w/ two children. I saw the car for the first time in October. It was killing me to find out what it was. So my wife and I drove into the dealer lot. I said that is awesome. So I got out and took a look.

Normall you expect 35k+ and crappy gas mileage.

Oh.. I got sticker shock, but in a good way. I told the wife to get out and take a look. Once I saw she was impressed for the same reasons I knew I had to get it. I ordered it 5 days later.

Proir to that I was driving a '99 F-150. So I lost towing capability and gained style and speed. Two car seats will fit in the car along with a very willing adult passenger.

I say go for it. I did and so far I'm not regretting it (@1500 miles).

Get the '05 GT. I've had many good rides, but nothing comes close to the bang for the buck I get from this one. I sold a '67 fastback to buy a freakin' minivan 22 years ago to haul babies around in. Well, the babies are grown and daddy is back in one very sweet ride. It was worth a 22 year wait. This car is everything I've been looking for. Get one...you'll thank yourself.

Get it and get it now!!! This is my 3rd stang, and my favorite hands down. Only had one problem with the CD, and it was because the CD was scratched. As for not trading the Honda for a Mustang... who ever said that must be doing some potent drugs!

Get it. I've had mine for a month now and I've loved every second of driving it. There are dealers out there who aren't overcharging so don't get ripped off. I got mine for MSRP and after taxes (San Diego) and with the Shaker 1000, interior upgrade, security system, and extended warranty it came out to 31k. Not bad.

Some more to think about:

1) No matter how many mufflers and chrome tips you stick on a Honda it will NEVER have the same roar as a V-8 Mustang.

2) How many times do you get a double take from people when you roll by in your Honda? For that matter, how many times do people wave at you, or stop you at a red light or in the gas station to compliment your car?

If you can afford to take the extra insurance hit and having to buy gas probably twice as often as in your Honda then it's well worth the money. You won't regret it!

Get one. Good luck trying to find a GT with a manual tranny. My mom has never had no tickets or wrecks and she is 36 and I think her insurance is 1800 a year with farm beuro
