Default 2005 GT Mustang and Sirius satellite radio

Hello all,

I recently picked up my Mustang in mid-December (ordered it in early November) and I couldn't be happier. I got it with the Shaker 1000 system. Anyway, my wife got me a Sirius Sportster for Christmas and after looking over the car for a bit I decided installing it was above. So I took it to a Tweeter Audio store to see what they could do. Specifically, I was hoping to get it installed using the mysterious AUX port on the Shaker 1000. The guy that worked there said it would require some adapter and that he would call around trying to find the part. It's been about 10 days and he just called today to tell me that no one currently makes the adapter for the Mustang. I don't want to dumb down my Shaker by using the FM antenna option so I guess I'll stick the Sportster in my wife's Focus. I'm posting this because I know there was a thread about this same topic and now I can't find it anymore. I guess the only choice for Sirius is to replace the stock receiver with an in-dash satellite receiver. I don't know how this will work with the rest of the Shaker 1000 system but that's the next thing I'm going to find out. If anyone else has any other information I would appreciate it because I love satellite radio and I don't listen to CDs very often.

Thanks!

Chris N

I would like to do the same thing with my XM Roady2. If you find out anything on the adapter please let me know. I will do the same...

Default SIRIUS Radio Questions

Just got my new GT 5spd and started looking at how to install my SIRIUS radio (Blaupunkt SR04 - Christmas present). I was wondering about the mysterious AUX button on the Shaker 500/1000. I will probably use the FM till someone comes out with an adapter. But the real question is: Has anyone thought about how to secure the antenna wire around the "Frameless" rear window. Into the trunk is not a problem, but I don't want the wire to flop around. Thought about just putting it on the trunk, but it is recommended mounting it as high as possible. Since the SIRIUS satellites move around it sounds like the right way to install it. Appreciate your thoughts.

Default Mounting Suggestion

I too have the Roady 2 and struggled with where to mount the antenna. On my old car, I had it sitting on the back dash of the car, and the reception was FINE throught the window. I recently had my windows tinted on my 05 Mustang, and the reception quality dropped significantly. I went out and bought the Roady 2 Home Kit and secured the Home antenna onto the rear dash. It works great. I like it because my 05 GT is Black and I didn't want to risk damaging the paint with the magnetic antenna. besides, I went through two antennas on my last receiver because the exterior magentic mounts dont hold up very well to the elements. Particularly the heavy summer rains here in Florida.

I always get 3 bars on the reception meter and the only time I lose signal is the occasional reinforced overpass. For $39 bucks at Circuit City, you get the Home antenna and the wireless remote.......which I wanted anyway and it costs $17 bucks on the Delphi website. The interior antenna is worth the $22.

I have the Roady Home kit, too. The biggest problem is running the atenna wire. Where do you run the wire in the car?

I was thinking of installing the Roady antenna on my trunk and running the wire through the trunk and into the cabin.

Once the wire is in the cabin, how are you going to run it?

I ran the wire for my Roady2 antenna through my trunk. It was suprisingly easy to do. I placed the antenna on the right hand lip of the trunk door, zip tied the cable to the corregated tubing running from the trunk latch/light, dropped the right rear seat, ran the cable around and under the edge of the seat, along the door sill, all the way to where I'm currently hiding the Roady2.

I read a while ago about someone placing their Roady2 brack on the console between the driver and passenger sun visors. I liked the idea and am considering doing the same. Before I do so, however, I need to figure out how to wire the Roady2 for power. Since the courtesy lights use 12v DC and the Roady2 uses 6v DC I can either mount a big ole DC-DC converter there or try to hide the converter behind the dash and run an extra long power cord along the door jamb and under the header to the console. In theory its possible but I need to accumulate more parts before I try.
