hi guys im a newbie.i found a early production gt ,the way i want, at a good deal.a bit far from me but ill deal with that.its a rare car for me(2 month search) about a hundred miles on her,in the showroom.seems to be one of first 1000 made...hmmm. what do you think.its got all opts, high end stick coupe.i think production is up to 35000 or so? opinions welcome! hey im a ex corvette guy with kids....ford wins this round.
The last five or six numbers of the VIN tell you what "number" you were. I've heard the earlier ones had a better fit and finish. Mine's #4074, no problems here....
look at i beleive the last 5 or 6 of the vin... this ones 000876. 876 off the line? i think so but not completly shure...late inventory seems to be at about 35678 range.now you can tell how long the car is on the lot for might help things.early vins are oct-nov medium dec latest stock current.also remember this rose in price in dec,so early ones are a bit cheaper dealer cost and sitting longer, better bargaining.alot showing up without interior up grade pack(latest run)but soon it will be back to normal(all options available).i once bought a 427 corvette cause the vin ended in 427.dont buy a 666 car.i wouldnt its bad luck.
Couldn't be the last 6 because that would make mine 101228. I got my GT in November. Must be #1228.
I agree...mine was built Nov. 4th, and the last six are 120971.

Mine was built in Sept, and looks like #07295. Didn't know that about the VIN - cool pointer!

Don't know what it is, but I don't think it's the last five either because mine ends in 10,008 - but since my car was built 10/04 - it cannot be a number higher than the 1228 on yours since it was a month earlier - unless of course your actual build date is earlier - check the certificate on the inside of the door. Maybe the car sat at the dealer for a while before you gave it a good home. If it's just four (which does not make sense either since they'll build more than 9999 cars) it has to be more digits - either that or I have the 8th car.
It would be interesting to see if is in in VIN somewhere, but it is probably a code, not date formats we are used to.
So the production sequence number is the 'unit number' off the line? If so - the 35,000 estimate is waaaaaaay off. My unit number is above 140,000! Guess there is no shortage of GT's after all
