I have a question I herd somewhere that later in 05, the 18 in fan blade wheels will be an option is this true. I also can't dicide on an 05 or 06 I like the 05 because it is a new model year and I herd that they will be deleting the mycolor option on the 06 and I would like that feature. On the other hand the 05 might have some problems, being a new model, as opposed to those problems being worked out in 06. Opinions please. Thanks.
Im thinking about the same thing. I herd that in August or September was when Ford was takin new orders for the 06 with the 18 inch fanblades. Ill be the first in line!!! I would wait for the 06 anyway. People have been having a good amount of problems with the 05 and the 06 may take some away. good luck and send pictures
One of the things Ford did well with the Mustang is to decide to build it at the plant that can do metal stamping, track testing, and assembly all at the same plant. This is different than the way it's usually done. That is, metal stamping is done in one plant and shipped to the assembly plant. Then, testing is done in another location outside the assembly plant.
The reason this is significant is whenever a problem arises, they can affect the fix to it and immediately incoporate it on the plant level.
While you'll be hard pressed to find a GT sitting on a dealer's lot for more than 24 hours and some dealer's have used their entire allotment for '05 GTs, you might find one that will order one for you.
If you can't, the only thing you can do is to order an '06 GT. Given the success of the '05, I doubt there's going to be much in the way of changes to the '06, though.

I heard something about if you've got an 05' on order and it for some reason doesn't get built or it gets to late in the year. Ford will lock in the price you were to pay for the 05' for an 06' model.
It's always a difficult decision when a new model comes out, but I opted for going with a 2005 now. The reasons? 1). Beside the GT engine, there is little actually new or extremely unique to the Mustang componetry, so teething problems should be at a minimum (4.0 engine an older German design also used in the Explorer, transmissions of long French usage, McStruts been around since dinosaurs along with the solid rear axle). 2). Ford, as other manufacturers, has a habit of raising the prices of their vehicles every 3 months, so the price of a comparable '06 will probably be about $800 - $1000 more (the sticker price on my V6 has ALREADY gone up around $200). 3). Ford and other vehicle manufacturers have a nasty habit of "decontenting" a vehicle every year by deleting standard features completely or making them optional each suceeding year in order to increase profits a few bucks (hey, I work at a tier supplier that provides parts for numerous manufacturers, and each year Ford wants cheaper part quality at any and all costs, so the parts used in the 2006 may ACTUALLY be of inferior quality to the 2005). And finally, the BIG reason I went with the '05 is the egotistical "grin" factor. There aren't many '05s running around out there yet, so people just about everywhere I go come to gawk at my red Mustang and ask me dozens of questions about it. I doubt it will have that same cache by the time the '06 models officially come out.
As far as wheel choices, you can always pick up the 18'ers at a cheaper price on eBay after the new model comes out, and then use your present wheels for a set of snow tires OR sell them on eBay and increase your net savings. Oh well, ya payz yer money and takes yer pick!!

My local dealer has a black GT red leather on the lot since before christmas! Before it arrived he was all "most dealers are charging 4000 over mrsp, but I wouldn't do that". I went somewhere else just 'cuz I thought he was a jerk. There were a couple dealerships that I didn't buy from because the sales people were dicks or idiots. Anyway, it's still winter in a small small city where everyone drives pickup trucks year round so I'll be surprised to see it sold locally before May. I have no idea what they're trying to sell if for, but I guessing mrsp+ Still waiting for my GT.
My dealer here in a small Michigan town still has a white GT with the premium wheel upgrade and the red leather interior. It's been sitting on the lot since early December. They tried to sell it on eBay, and even had a buyer, but then the purchaser backed out. As previously mentioned, I'm sure that a lot of places have GTs available already, but the location just doesn't typically lend itself to Mustang sales in the frigid winter. In fact, I've only seen one other 'Stang in my area since I've owned mine , and I do a lot of driving in a 50 mile radius. Another issue is that I've yet to see a manual trans on any Mustang on the lots around here, and that causes me to guess that many people are either ordering specifically what they want built or are waiting for better weather to purchase a rear-wheel drive vehicle. B.T.W., my dealer had to do a dealer trade because I wanted a specific color and leather interior, and they pulled up half a dozen V6 models already in Michigan that matched my specific criteria. So, like in real estate, I guess the availability of a GT's price and availability depends on location, location, location.
All good points. You can bet that Ford will figure in a price increase for the '06 given how the '05s have sold.
Ford actually "price protects" those who order a car. But, I don't think that price protection carries from one model year to the next. IT's only valid in the same model year.
While car companies do decontent from one model year to the next, I don't think they force suppliers to lower quality at the same time. I think they try to get suppliers to realize "quantity of scale" price reductions.....meaning, the more "units" Ford buys, the less money a supplier should be capable of selling that "unit". At the same time, car companies demand that the quality of parts get better. One of their purchasing criteria is to have parts that don't fail (thus affecting warranty costs). If the projected failure rate of any part doesn't go down over the course of using the part, the manufacturer will force the part manufacturer to redeisng the part, or drop them as a supplier.
This coming from a supplier to GM, Peugot, Honda and Rolls.
Lower quality IS a real issue when it comes to the "god of the bottom line" that the manufacturers require. For example, on a particular piece that we produce, Ford went from aluminum to aluminized coating on steel, then to a thinner aluminized coated steel on the same item. THEN, in order to reduce cost even further, Ford went to a plastic item last year from a different supplier. Now, after having the plastic item on vehicles for the past year, Ford has discovered cracking issues and is secretly replacing the part with a retrofited steel part for those owners that have already discovered the problem while in service. In fact, that potential problem was mentioned by Ford's line workers when they were installing the plastic prototype parts on the test vehicles. But, cost wins out every time!
HEY MY NAMES ADAM I LIVE IN CHICAGO, ANYWAYS I STOPPED BY SESSLER FORD TO GET A PRICE AND PUT A ORDER THROUGH. I TESTED THE GT AUTO ITS NICE. SO I ORDERED THE SONIC BLUE GT PREMIUM AND THE INTERIOR UPGRADE WITH MY COLOR I HEARD THERE COMIN OUT WITH 4 OR SO MORE EXT COLORS AND THE MINOR DEFECTS ARE GOING TO BE FIXED AND THE MY COLOR OPTION WILL STILL B AVAILABLE BUT HARD TO GET CAUSE OF AVAILIBILITY WITH THE MAJOR SUPPLY AND DEMAND.
