We use the Mr. Clean Spot Free Wash and think it works great. I have heard mixed reviews, but if you follow the instructions it does what it says (for us anyways). The only thing my husband didn't like about it was that it seems to cut down on the water pressure, but that doesn't seem to effect the spot free at all.
All I do is spray it down with water, wipe clean with towels. Spray again with water, then dry with a chamois. Trying to limit any chemicals if possible on the paint.
Meguiar's Hi-Tech Wash,
Mother's Claybar Kit,
Meguiar's Gold Class for ClearCoat
-or-
Zaino Z-7, Z-18 (w/Z-6) and ZFX/Z-2
Both yeild exceptional results.

Coral Blue down at Walmart is the best soap I ever used because it does not leave spots at all and you just let it dry on its own.
One more thing how are you saying the title(Washing the stang?) Are you saying washing or warshing? Just curious I say warsh.
It's not the soap that leaves the spots, it's the quality of water that you use. Where I live we have to deal with some really crappy water. It's so bad we don't even use it for drinking or cooking. Unfortunitely, I have to use it to wash my Mustang.
