I see alot of people with new '05 GTs tend to go to open days at race tracks and thrown down on the drag. I just wanted to let anyone know that if you're dealer every found out that you raced it on a track that your warentee wil be voided. (not that there would be anyway they could find it out) Also, if you get into an accident while doing a drag race, insurance doesn't cover the damage(I guess your dealership could find out then, when you try to get them to repair any damages through the insurance company). I'm not trying to discourage racing or anything, I'm just wondering if any young guys in here were aware of that. Personally I was going to go to a local track until I found this out.
Racing your '05 mustang GT

Who told you that BULL There is NO WAY any dealer, can void your warranty because you went down a 1/4 mile piece of paved tar! I would be all over them with a lawyer in a heartbeat
Well I don't think they care about driving down the 1/4 mi. It's the manner in which you do it. I'm guessing that it could be voided only if you damage sometihing in the car as a result of racing and when you take it to the dealer, they could obviously know what you did. Damage that was inflicted by you the driver and wasn't a result of a faulty product. Search for it on the net, some warranty's actually specify that their cars cannot be driven under "harsh conditiions".
If had had my warranty in front of me I would look. But for a lawyer to be involved the warranty would have to specify that you cannot put the engine into any extreme conditions. In that you wouldnt have a case. I tried searching fore a mustang warranty online but I couldnt find one.

OK, to start it is alright to take your STANG to the track. You are driving under controled conditions ( any track will boot you off for driving any other way ). Ford advertises this car in the same way. As long as you are on the track your insurance will cover any crash. ( They may not like it but it is not illegal ). Now if you run on main street with that Z06 and wrap your Stang around a pole, well your ****-out-of-luck. Your ins company will pay but you will never get ins. that you could afford again!! My insurance agent wants to go the next track day to see us run. This has come up in many conversations. Good Luck, Keep the rubber side down & the shinny side up. The 05 mustang runs well and launches out of the corners. Top speed appx 152 mph. although the hood wants to come off. ( see my other post ), I used high speed tape along the hood and front end at the track to help with this problem.

Hood Flex @ 80-120 mph. Anyone have the same problem? I get the feeling the hood is going to lift off. This cant be good for aero dynamics!
i have been through this with dealerships before. Subaru WRX's or the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo's (don't remember which one) gave a new buyer a year memebership into SCCA (sports car club of america). now, you can go buy your "rally race car" and go autocross it. but! if something broke on your newcar, the warranty was voided. I know, I know, catch 22 right? well, that was there marketing gimmick. you were fine taking your car to race, but just don't do anything to break it. A few years ago, a kid in a new STi broke a driveshaft or something while autocrossing on the membership the dealership gave him. he was tough outta luck with getting that car fixed under warranty. I don't know if he pursued it any further, but, last i heard he paid for it out of his pocket.
any kind of racing is considered "off road". which means if your insurance company finds out you wrecked your car they might not pay for it. depends on your insurance company and how chummy you are with your agent. but, the dealerships will not fix a car under warranty if the car is damaged on any "off road" use. drag strip, autocross, road coarse, baja, etc...
Maybe someone has a different experience than the one i just explained and can give some different facts based on their own experience.

Race on Sunday sell on Monday....has always been the manufactures moto on muscle cars.
Although warranty is an issue and you bring a good poin for those who dont knowt. In my 30 years of racing mostly Factory cars I've never heard of anyones warranty being dropped.
But................it is possible."So....ya makes yur choices"
But it realy comes down to this:
Theres those who just love'em and drive it.
Theres those who just love'em and race it.
Funny, my dealer sponsors an All ford day at Bandemier Raceway (NHRA Thunder on the Mountain) in Denver. Matter of fact when I bought my new torch red, it was the first GT off their lot, the sale manager and service manager couldn't wait to tell me about it and offer me free tickets. You get as many times down the track as you can get in.
Just looked over my waranty. Couldn't find this in the small print. Anybody have any idea where this little piece of info could be located?
