I'm asking for opinions from the forum about the sequential turn signals. I've installed them on my car, which I really like. When you apply the brake, the lights sequence once, then stay on. There is an option to stop the brake light sequencing and operate normally. What do you think looks best? And thanks for posting.
Did you buy the one from webelectrics? Was it easy to install? I'm reasonably sure I want to get one, the price seems high for what it does however. Are you satisfied?
I'd let it sequence once even on the brakes, it might confuse the stupids but thats their problem.

Yes, I bought the ones from web electronics. They were as easy to install as they claim and worked without problem. I see on other threads where folks have complained about the price, but I appreciated the completeness of the kit, the clear instructions and NO WIRE CUTTING! They use a Ford wiring harness and it plugs right in.
We also put on the ones from WebElectrics and I LOVE them. Super easy install, plug and play and they look awesome! Now I use the turn signals all the time, even turning in the driveway.

What did you do about the brake lights? Do your flash when you brake or did you "cut the green wire"? What do you think about the brake flashing? I agree, I love mine as well.
Hmmm... I'll have to check when hubby gets home with the car. We didn't cut any wires so the brake lights must flash. I've only seen the turn signal part of it! I'll check and post later.
If you look at the details on the website, you can send back the original harness and get $40 back. I also read that the harness is a Ford harness so it makes me wonder what is different about the one they send you then the factory one and that maybe simple modifications that anyone can do with a little help from Radio Shack to make them yourself for alot less money. I assume that they are just changing the factory harness in some way and reselling them as new and charging $180 for something simple. Has anyone that has gotten the kit looked at the difference between the factory and the kit to see what may be additional?
newgtowner, you bring up a good observation. I had the same thought about WebElectrics offer to provide a $40 rebate if you return the original wiring harness. I did buy the sequential turn signals kit from them even after I said on the forum that I thought it was a little bit too much in price. But, as they claim, it was extremely easy to install (took me less than 1/2 hour), and work great and are extremly cool to look at. I elected to keep my original harness in case I wanted to revert back to the original signaling scheme.
Getting back to their $40 rebate, it kind of makes you wonder what the real cost is:
Original Ford Wiring Harness value $40
(2) Flashers (this could be proprietary) $40 (guess)
Labor to cut, connect, tape, & prep $50 (1 hour guess)
Total estimated costs for a sequential turn signal kit $130/Kit. If you ask me, WebElectric is probably making easily about $50 to $80 profit per kit. But, they're the only game in town right now.
Getting to the original post of this thread, WebElectric sells another kit called the 3rd Brake Light Flasher. This is an independent working kit that 'flashes on' the 3rd brake light. With just the sequential turn signal kit, it only works the tail lamps and not the 3rd brake light. The 3rd Brake Light Flasher Kit goes for about $30 I think?

http://www.classicdesignconcepts.com/ has the same item for $149, but they are on back order. I was going to wait to buy from them, but I didn't want to wait forever. So I ordered mine from WebElectric also, should have it this week.
Harness in volume: $25
Flasher (proprietary or otherwise) $15
Labor to assemble $5 - think about it... a person doing these mods day in day out could probably whip out 4-5 harnesses an hour. Do you think that this person makes $50,000 per year? That's what $5 of labor per harness @ 5 per hour turns into.
So the profit is WAAAY higher than that.
Conversely, to be the devil's advocate, how much profit is there in the SCT tuner - some flash ram, cable and a generic box covered with stickers. Hmmm.. Worse still, pick any piece of software. $.07 per disk media, $.50 for instruction manual, $.50 for box, $1 labor to assemble kit -- it's the IP you're paying for. C'mon everyone spell it with me I N T E L L E C T U A L P R O P E R T Y.
Now then, having said all that, I'm voting with my wallet and not buying those flashers. I really want them, but not at those prices. If they were $50 - I'd buy.

Peet, I was being rather conservative with my opinion regarding the sequential turn signal harnesses; but, you are accurate and probably right in many ways. The aftermarket works pretty much the same way the greddy dealers do with regard to supply and demand.
I'm fairly confident that many of the aftermarket stuff is being produced fairly cheaply; otherwise, these guys wouldn't be making any money. The Sequential Turn Signal Kit from WebElectric is a good quality product but it is pricey(more than its worth). Being that it's the only good product out there and my desire to have it, I bought it.
If I had the money coming out of my pockets, I would have bought alot more than I have already. In the meantime, I'm mostly waiting until I can get much of this stuff for a fair price.

keep the brakes so they sequence once. its looks a lot nicer, PLUS it attracts more attention, which could keep you from getting rear ended somewhere down the road. by the way, i've had seq. lights on my last 2 stangs and love them!

I checked today and the brakes don't flash at all. We didn't cut any wires so I'm not sure whats the deal with that. Anyway, I still love 'em!
