Yep. The Call came today. My vehicle was here, but Ford screwed me. They cut my IUP. As soon as my rep started describing it, I knew that something was wrong. Then I mentioned that it didn't sound right, and she said she would start looking into it. When I arrived several hours later, they pulled it into a space right next to me as I parked. We opened it up and sure enough, no IUP; they installed the interior sport package. I know Ford had been pressuring dealers to order the sport instead of the IUP. The problem was that since this was a "retail" order and not a "stock" order, they weren't supposed to alter it without contacting the dealer. In the end, Ford says that will take responsibility for it, and are taking the car back. They are searching now to see if anything matches my order and will try to get what I ordered. I feel I can at least give my sales rep a good evaluation; she has been on my side from the start. After we looked at all the paperwork, including the DORA, it was clear that Ford made the change.
Somebody restart the clock…who knows how long the wait will be now.
Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. I love how the colors on the IUP look, but if I was in the same situation, I think I'd be unwilling to give the car back. Especially after waiting and waiting for it. You should ask the dealer if there's any way Ford can send them the required parts rather than taking the car back.

That is VERY disappointing news. I really feel badly for you. I have almost the same car ordered, and I think it's just about time for my "call" too. Sure hope they didn't screw up my order too.

I had something happen like that happen to me. When I finally got the car it had different rims and it had the rear wing(I didn't want it). I was told that they don't actually make it to your specific request. They just get a car that is as close to your request as possible and after waiting almost three months you will take anything.

The dealer is feeding you bull crap, when you personally order a vehicle its made to what you want. Sounds like the dealer messed up either deliberately or accidently and trying to get you to accept a stock ordered car. If you special order your vehicle the Monrovey Label will have your name near the very bottom. I ordered mine Nov 17th and recieved her Mar 3rd. I think I got mine a little sooner then other people who order theirs (near the same date) because I requested cloth instead of leather and I'm a dealership employee. If your Mustang arrives with a spoiler and the wrong wheels they can sometimes switch the needed or unneeded items. We recently swapped decklids on two V6 Mustangs, the customer didn't want the spoiler. But with a small supply of Mustangs swapping items can be tough.
Bad deal man! I'm another one waiting for the call, and sure hope it isn't a regular occurence. I know this is stupid, but the mycolor dash is 50% of the reason I'm buying this car.

If the dealer is saying they messed up and will take responsibility, then have them order all the IUP parts and have them installed in the car that is sitting there...You don't have to wait for another order if they screwed up. I remeber reading on either this or another board that someone did the upgrade themselves by just getting the part #'s.
Dude, I feel your pain. My wife was supposed to get hers the week of the 7th, and we got the call that it was in Kent Wa. about 2 weeks and three days ago. After one week the dealer called the transport company and asked what was taking so long, reply was that his workers were being slow unwrapping them from rail shipment. Another week goes by, finally today I called and said I could have walked there and pushed the car home by this time and what was it going to take to get it up here. He did some checking and found out that Ford never put it on the original rail shipment and it just left the plant at the end of last week. New arrival date is this thursday, of course my wife figures that means we'll get it about xmas time.
I hate that when that happens...I've got one ordered and would kill under the same circumstances. If you have Vehicle Order Conformation slip with right items on it you can yell fowl and either restart the clock or ask for compensation.
Have my slip on my night stand dreaming about the day it arrives...

Come on, guys! It's a car! It'll NEVER be perfect. Why would you wait another 6-8 months when your car is already here! So it doesn't have the funny colored guages. Big deal.
I'd just get the car they got for you, I'm sure you'll love it!
Ah, the joys of brotherhood and sisterhood. Thanks for all the commiseration. I'm begining to recover from the disappointment now, especially since my dealer called and said that she had located a vehicle. I had to make some minor concessions, but they were ones I could live with. I at least get the full IUP and she can get it here in a couple of days. I'm still going to let Ford know that I was disappointed though; we've got to keep them on their toes. The only way we have of making things better is with our wallets and mouths.
I'm ready to drive though.
Here's hoping I'll be joining you owners soon, and here's to good fortune for those still waiting.
