On my 16th b-day im going to the ford dealer, and check out an 05 GT. We want to rent it for like a day...how much would it cost? thanx
check out the rental car web sites for Avis, Hertz, National, etc. Not likely that a dealer will rent one out.... however, if you appear truly serious, they may let you take it for an overnight "test drive". happy b-day
It's hard to even find a rental place that will touch you if you're under 21. With that said, I know for a fact that Avis has '05s in certain locations. I've rented them from the Sacramento airport a number of times over the last 2 months.
Yep you need to be 25. Sorry kido. Better start saving your money. Best bet is to lease one, although it might not be with it cuz you'll be waiting like 4 months to get it. Prolly wouldn't get an 05 by now anyway. Most places have stopped taking orders.
and i dont know if this will help me at all, but we know the service manager, of this ford dealer. Im good friends with his kids, and my parents no him...maybe he'll let me on some good deals:thumbsup
this is exactly what i dont like about these forums... you never know when you are talking to some 15 year old kid that doesnt know anything about life and probably knows less about cars... Then again they probably have all the time in the world to surf the net and find cool thing to add to the site...so i guess i should just shut up
First, not meaning to burst your bubble, but rental agreements don't even allow a driver younger than 21 to be driving the car, regardless of who it's rented to.

Call up Hertz, your local Hertz not the national office, and ask about the availabilty of the '05 Mustang. If they don't have any they can have it sent over from another location. I am pretty sure they have only V6's. Also, they will rent to only 25+. Enterprise is the only rental company that rents to lower and even they are 21+. Anyway, that is my experience. I don't even think you can be added as an additional driver at 16. I paid $24.99 per day, unlimited miles + $9.99 for insurance just in case. Call Hertz and they can tell you. Good luck.

I don't know that there are any recommendations to give you short of convincing them to buy a GT (if they can even find one) and then convincing them to let you drive it around for a day (if they'd even be willing to do that).
Or, wait another 5 years, or so.

I tried Hertz on their toll-free and they won't guarantee a 2005 Mustang although they are working on a system to do just that. For the meantime it is all in the timing. Here in Houston only Bush Intercontinental Airport Hertz location has the most 2005 Mustangs and Hobby Airport only a handful - 3 I believe. In all cases I recommend you call the 800 line get the local airport location number and when you call that one DO NOT touch any option buttons else you will be routed back to the 800 folks and not the local number you called. Then ask for availability and get youself down there ASAP if they have one.

PS: I did notice that one dealership on I-10 and Beltway 8 (I believe a Mac Haik to be exact) had a rental department behind their new car lot. Never called to check if the 2005 Mustang was available but there was one parked in front of the rental are with no MSRP new car stickering.
