Default aux plug & ipod?

Hey all, I'm new on the forum & got a question right off the bat. Picked up my GT after a 3 month order last week.
My question is about the aux button on the 500 shaker. I'd like to put in a 1/4" plug somewhere in the dash so I can plug in my iPod (I'll prob drill a hole in the glove compartment so I can just trail out a simple snake). Anyone know what kind of pin set the aux-port takes around back & where you can get one?
The mp3 cd is a kinda cool idea, but not enough thought into it (unless you know what you are doing & org your folders alphabetically). Plus, I don't wanna burn a new cd everytime I DL a couple of new files! would take any suggestions. Thanks...

Default No such luck!

Look back at some of the early threads on this subject. The back of the unit (shaker 500) has no inputs and the AUX doesnt exist. I took my 05GT the local auto sound store (Sound Advice in FL) and they installed a wired in FM modulator. Avoid the transmitter types (itunes etc..) they dont work. Take a look at the pic in my profile i use a Belkin Cup holder for the IPOD and the wire comes in through a hole in the center counsel. It puts the IPOD in a perfect position to control with your arm resting on the center counsel.

There are actually two inputs to the shaker radio. One is a mono for a cell phone. The other is stereo. There is a thread that has a digram attached that shows which pins in the back of the radio.

Here is the wiring diagram. The J3 connector has stereo and mono in wires. The mono is for a cell and is activated by the phone trans. active on the J1 connector. The stereo in should be activated by the aux selection. :thumbsup

Ford has a wiring harness that plug into the radio and the original harness plugs into it that is for use with a cell phone accessory. I would think that this harness could be modified to use for the stereo in as well. If I ever get my car the first mod is going to be the cell phone input then I will be able to see about the stereo input but that will be a while.Below are links to the two different harnesses for the cells at 50+ each they are probably not the wayto go unless you are planning to do the phone as welland they may not work anyway. Somebody will get a harness together for it soon.

ps the aux audio in J4 is for the subwoofer amps

So the J4 plug is the line level out to the sub?
2 questions:

Am I correct in assuming that pin 4 (marked Aux Aud Enable) would be the remote turn on for the sub amp? Has anyone verified this with a volt meter?

Is the J4 plug a line level out or already amplified?

Since my dash is currently apart I could run to the local radio shack and buy a cheapo volt meter and find out I guess. What would I be looking for volt-wise? There is a plug in there with 4 wires attached to pins 1-4 if that helps any. Still trying to install an audio-in to pins 1,2,9 & 10 here with no luck...unit reads "No Aux Audio Avail" What am I missing?

Does the plug from J4 continue on into a harness or terminate in loose wires? If you can test pin 4 that would be great!!! Just measure voltage between the pin and ground (any ground, frame, etc...) with the stereo on and again with it off. Hoping it will show 0 with the system off and 7-12v turned on.

I don't think I would even be able to get to the pins to test them with the stereo connected. There just isn't enough room back there.

And the J-4 wires do go into a harness in the back of the unit.

Anyone find a solution to this? I want to hook my iPod up.

I tried one that sends the signal through an FM station, and it works ok, but not my ultimate solution.

Give us an update if anyone has found a solution

thanks!

Can somebody with a shaker system do a little test for me? I will give you the reason after so as not to give false hope. Just need one simple answer. Put a cd in and while it is playing press the cd button. If a message displays what is it? Thank you in advance.

Hey 66stang351,

I get the title of the song on the track being played. Just a another feature I didn't know about. Is this what you were looking for?

Not exactly. I am looking at 2 different sites for info and one says to push the button twice one says once. If you could try again and push it twice I would appreciate it. If nothing else displays then my experiment is over. The wiring diagram for the radio shows a stereo input that is for either FES or CDDJ. This is the DVD system and an external cd changer. I have found a couple of adapters that allow an ipod or other aux system to use these controls. It lists several ford vehicles that use the same wiring harness as the Mustang up to the 05 year models. But it doesn't list the 05 stang. If after pressing the cd button once or twice if it displays "no CDDJ" then it has cd changer controls and should be able to use an adapter at some point in the near future.

Sorry Bro,

It just stays with the track title on one and two pushes. Sounds like this may be one of those software issues.

Thanks for trying. It is strang that the wiring diagram lists both the family entertainment system and the cd disc jockey but it seems like niether can be used. There have been attempts to wire to the pins and press the aux button, but that returns a no aux input message. When I get my car I am going to wire in a bluetooth adapter. When I do I might try to check out some of the other connections. I don't actually plan on hooking up anything just trying to help out others on the board.

I contacted Precision Interface Electronics at pie.net about an interface that would work on the 6-CD indash reciever. They said they were working on one, but they didnt know when it would come out.
