2005 Price Increase?

Some time ago I read that Ford was going to increase the price of, at least, the '05 GT. To my recollection, that increase was going to happen in February but Ford was going to honor orders placed before then.

I placed my order in November and picked up my car 2 weeks ago. The price increase was reflected on the invoice Ford issued my dealer. I said all of the above to my dealer, but was told Ford sets that price & nothing can be done. I've been in contact with Ford's customer service and they have been no help, other than to say "The dealer sets their own price." (I bet the call center is in India because language definitely seems to be a barrier.)

So, my question is: is there an article somewhere that says, to the effect, Ford is increasing the price of 2005 Mustangs, but will honor previous orders?

This is pretty important, so any help would be appreciated.

I ordered my GT on 3/29 and didn't see this happen. The total came to around $1300 to $1500 over what I figured it up at on the Ford site. I figure that's a fair profit for the dealer on a very popular vehicle.

Someone else on here had the same issue you do.
I as well as others in that thread did not have to pay it. My Sticker had the increase reflected, but I paid the MSRP that it was when I ordered and put my money down.

OMG, $1500 over the Ford site. Ouch.

The Ford site is now about 400-500 more than it was last year when I built mine. I got mine for the same price as on the Ford site.

Basically I took the Ford site to mean MSRP.

Thanks for the feedback everyone -- it's been very useful. Is anyone aware of a specific news article that mentions the '05 Mustang's price increase & if Ford was going to honor existing orders?

In the past 3 years or so, the increase of price of a GT hasn't been more than a few hundred $'s. Sounds like dealer inflation...in any case, tell the dealership to eat the inflation cost or you'll go elsewhere(not like your going to get an '05 anyway). I'm sure they'll give it to you for under "MSRP". Heck, I got mine 500 below MSRP cuz the dealership has good relations withall it's customers and I didn't even have to argue about it. It's your money, not theirs.

I was just at FordDirect.com and I priced my car it came out with everything I ordered at $29,120.00 and I paid $26,555.86 plus Tax Title and Sales Tax. I did not think it would have been that much of an increase.

A little more information: I am in posession of the car & I paid 2% below dealer invoice. I'm sure many of you are thinking I'm being petty & that I should be happy with the price I got. I am happy. And darn lucky, too. But that's beside the point. I ordered the vehicle based on an agreed price, but now feel like Ford pulled a bait-and-switch on me. They knew I wouldn't walk away from the vehicle & would pay the extra money knowing I had no leverage.

Again, I don't believe the dealer had anything to do with this. Assuming the document I was shown was true, Ford invoiced my dealer roughly $500.00 more than the price I was quoted when I ordered the car 5 months ago.

I'm sorry, but I just think that's wrong.
