I have over 500 cds stored in my two computers. All WAV files. Rather than go thru a lot of hoops converting these files to mp3 and then burning them, I bought a program that converts them automatically and records all info on the cd so that the shaker displays the album (or playlist name) and the song title.
Are you sure they are wav files and not wmv or wma? wav files are huge and are only meant for short sound bites. audio cd's are usually wmv or wma format.

Some of the old school rip software would rip to .wav I've got a bunch I have never botherd to convert to mp3 or wma.
Ah, yes! Did not think windows media player could convert. What steps do you do to perform that function?? I will play around with it myself as well, just in case written instructions are to long to post.
Thanks for the reply

There is also a free program called neoaudio that I have used. It can convert from one file type to another.

I installed neoaudio and it looks like it is simple and will do the trick. BE CAREFUL IF U USE IT!!! My anti-spyware I use found many problems with spyware attached to this "free-ware" The way that these companies offer software for "free" is because advertisers attach their software to it. That's ok now that I removed all the junk attached to it. Thanks for the free software info....
Does the shaker cd player accept wma format as well??????? If so that would be awesome, I believe this is a smaller format than mp3 even. That would also make burning the disks that much easier...:thumbsup

I have an older version of neoaudio that didn't have the spyware. I originally got it to rip cds. I have not used it in quite a while because my new computer has windows media 10 so I never installed neo. I also bought my dad an ipod for Christmas and loaded itunes.

I would suggest against using CD-RWs as they are mostly incompatible with the majority of Car radios. Save those discs for backing up data that you use on the computer. CD-Rs are inexpensive enough to just use as throw-aways once you've grown tired of your playlist.
I use Nero Ultra Edition, the problem is all cds are loaded onto pc in Windows media player and are not in MP3 format and need converted. I was asking about good conversion software so I don't have to re-rip cds, etc.
Thanks
Musicmatch will convert pretty easily from wav to mp3 and let you choose the bitrate etc. Its free as well (shareware) but fully functional. I can't remember if it lets you do batch conversion. I'm sure you wouldn't want to sit there and do 1 at a time. I have about 900 CD's myself and took forever just to rip them as mp3's 1 CD at a time, I know I wouldn't want to go 1 song at a time, LOL. There are batch conversion wav-mp3 tools out there for free as well, just never used any myself so can't recommend one.
I know some people like iTunes as they say above, I personally dont. I like a little better control over the directory structure etc of my music on my pc. I do use iTunes as well, but just to share my library with my Roku Soundbridge connected to my stereo.

Well as some of you have suggested, I popped my original MP3 data disc I made a week ago and wouldn't you know, the disc worked fine. Very strange. I have since burned 3 more MP3 data discs all nearly at 700MB capacity and the discs are working to some extent in the Shaker. There are some song, however, that are being dropped. It seems my Shaker is very finicky about playing MP3 discs as it seems with many others as well. Again, thanks for the help everyone.

If you just drag the files onto itunes it can convert them all automatically. Just make sure that you go into preferences and set the import using mp3 encoder on the import tab. The itunes default is AAC which is the audio component of mpeg4. The shaker cannot play aac.

You're right, they are WMA files. I use a program called MP3 Maker to convert Windows Media Player to MP3 files.
I'm surprised to see no one has mentioned RealPlayer. I use the free version to burn a data CD with the MP3 files. I also use it to rip my CD wav files to MP3 format. Then I drop them all into the root directory. I haven't had any trouble on the first 5 I've burned.
