Going back and forth with the wheel rep and my local dealership. He's insisting that 19" wheels won't fit right because their aren't any tires that match up to maintain overall diameter.
I explained that 255/40/19 tires are 27.0" (compared to stock at 27.2"). He got defensive and said they can't be held accountable if (blah, blah)...
He also says I shouldn't put wider than 8.5" in the front. OK, fine.
So do 255 tires on an 8.5" wide wheel fit right? Will the tread stick out too wide and look odd on this size wheel?

I have 19x9 all around, with Michelin 255/40/19, 27.1" overall diameter! Michelin recommend a minimum of 8.5" for that tire but shop told me they squeeze them on 8's as well...
The Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is the best tire you can buy for ALL driving! The thread is kinda dull though and they are NOT cheap... but that's what I get for planning on driving year around I guess..
On a related story... I noticed chipping in the painted finish on the outside edge on my rims the other day, all four of them! The 'rim protector flange' on the Michelins is pretty small so debris from the road has hit the thin edge and made some paint come off. König and the store will take care of me. New rims with 275/35/19 is their recomendation, at no cost to me! Saw above someone else was putting 275s all around... anybody with this who could tell me about the fit, looks, ride and comfort?
Here are a few pics of my wheel, Eibach Pros and painted calipers...

I haven't decided on a tire yet, so I don't have a quote on a package. But the wheels alone will be around $1,100.
I'm guessing, with tires, a total package will run somewhere around $1,800.
These prices are for 19"x8.5" all around, of course.

Looks great. Yeah, I'm definitely going to go 255/40/19s at this point. Seems a perfect fit.
Thanks all.
Now, how about tire brand & model? Preferences? Nice tread/handling/rating? What are people's opinions?

Unfortunately, according to the Nitto website, they don't make the 555 in 255/40/19.
