I installed the new Steeda short throw shifter conversion yesterday in my GT and works real well. If you don't want to spend nearly 300 bucks for their Tri/Axe unit you can convert the one you have for 120 bucks. The hardest part of the converstion is taking the shifter out as you have to remove the driveshaft from the transmission to pull the shifter thru. Then you have to grind off the old shifter cap, install the new shifter rod and reassemble using the billet cap with adjustable stops, install and adjust the stops and your done! Shortens the throws at least 1/3 of the distance of the stock unit.
The only problem I have now is every time I shift gears I hear a screech from the rear end! Where are those instructions! I don't remember it saying anything about tire wear! I never knew you could shift a stick so fast.....gotta help 1/4 mile times. Can't wait to see.

Does the shifter mod get rid of the 'grab' the stock shifter has? I hate that about the stock, that it grabs the stick before you go into in gear (most noticeable in 2nd and 3rd)... I'd like more of a smooth shift, hell I'd even put in a shift gate (a la Ferrari & Porsche).
