I was driving 805S in San Diego during lunch today when I saw what appeared to be an 05 GT Mineral Grey. I thought, damn if only I was more patient, maybe that would be mine. It was a few car lengths in front of me, but as I passed it leaving to an onramp, I saw the plastic black rockers. I thought, those are only on the V6. Why would a GT have the plastic black rockers? My only conclusion, it was V6, with foglamps, dual exhaust mod, and GT emblems side and back.
Now I have no problem with V6'ers modifying their car, hell I plan too when $$$ starts to flow. But common, don't add the GT emblems to a V6. Is this common in the mustang community, V6'ers adding GT emblems?
Seems to me some creative Ford Dealer would add the GT options on to a V6, since there is such a shortage of GT's.
But I don't think this is one of those times. I can't imagine that someone would go to such great lengths to knock off a GT. In particular the exhaust. To put an exhaust on a V6 would take extensive fabrication. And then there is the rear skirt with the exhaust cut outs. Not a cheap upgrade.
I think it was more likely someone who put the rockers on the GT.
Only one way to know for sure, listen to the exhaust or look under hood.
But I do expect some dealers to find a way to take advantage of the GT shortage.

One of the dealers here did it. Put GT badges on a V6, cut out the rear bumper, added dual exhaust, paint the rockers and added the fogs----too weak!
Yeah found a dealer-modded v6 over in Bethesda, MD. I was about to give props to guy then realized he was trying to pretend he owned a GT. The car had dual exhause mods (which did not help making the engine sound any better) and GT fender emblems, but the logo on back trunk was the running pony and no fog lights. He still had the dealer's plate on the front of the car.
Why unfortunately? What is it to you and how does it affect anyone? Why would you care that some Joe/Jane put a GT emblem on their ride? I can see it now "Oh my goodness! Honey call the Mustang Gestapo ASAP there is what appears to be a V6 that has GT badges on it! Those BASTARDS!!!"
Jeeese. I hate to say this but the "GT is superior to the V6" thing on this board gets on my nerves. I have been on and I am a member of many boards for some time and this is the worst I have seen by far..
I breed Bull Terriers and have some pretty nice ones and a few that have some flaws. My dogs mean everything to me the same way to some people their (sorry to say this GT people) V6 Mustang is their pride and joy. Other breeders might, in discussion point out that a dogs movement or some other part of its construction is less than it should be but it is in an attempt to help another breeder fix a flaw in their line.
Too many GT people just think the V6's are nothing and should not even garner a noteworthy thought. Sucks to be you... your insurance is much higher than mine and your gas consumption is less than I would ever want it to be. And what about the huge overwhelming driving lights Ford stuck on the front end? What the hell were they thinking?
There are no flaws in the V6's. They are great, well balanced cars that probably are better suited to everyday driving than a GT is to tell you the truth.
So what gives you this feeling of superiority, or should I call it a license to be rude?
Is it about speed?
I can name a bunch of vehicles that can easily beat a Mustang... so it isn't about being the fastest is it?
Is it about looks?
If so, a V6 is on even keel with a GT. I get just as many looks from the poor suckers driving a mini van as you do.
Is it about money?
You can afford a GT and you feel that most V6 people can't?
If so, wrong again.
I am trading my v6 in this week because of a domestic situation here at home. I need a vehicle to transport my dogs since the wife is gone, so is her SUV. Thank you to most of you for being good board members and Mustang owners. Be proud of your car no mater what it is because they all are great. To those GT'ers who look down on others... GET A LIFE.
and sticking a Ferrari badge on the hood of my Mustang does not make it so...all some people are saying is to just be honest about your car - V6 or GT, it doesn't matter - just don't lie about it.
what was that phrase form the 80s - poser?
I suggest you pour a drink and relax...

I couldnt have said that better myself. When i look in that garage, my face lights up everytime. props to you, props to V6ers, and props to all of the non-asshole GT Owners. It is an honor to be an owner of such an awesome car.

I come in peace,
Not trying to start an argument...just wondering. What if someone was selling Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier mix puppies as Bull Terriers. Some people would say who cares the dog is still sweet and loveable. Where would you stand on that? Like I said just asking?
Same thing to GT owners. GT's are totally different, different heart, different soul. Unless you own one it's hard to explain.

"What if someone was selling Bull Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier mix puppies as Bull Terriers."
As long as the dealer does not make claims that are untrue. What's the difference if someone has a badge on their car? It hurts nobody. Misrepresenting an item for sale is different.
If I have a Bull Terrier and want to call it a Staffy then who cares? But I could not and would not sell a Bull Terrier while representing it to the purchaser as a poodle, a Staffy or anything else other than a Bull Terrier. Make sense?
Peace
