Hey,
Last night I learned a new feature on our car. It will help keep us from looking like an idiot going down the road. Some of you may know about it, but I have never seen it posted................
If you leave your turn signal on for too long, a warning light sounds. It is the same as if your seatbelt was not secure. I have not had this on any of my vehicles before. I don't know if we are the only Fords with this or what.... My New F150 does not do it .....
We were getting on to a long Expressway ramp which made for a long turn signal use. All the sudden the warning started beeping. I did not see any lights, and our seatbelts were still secure. As we came out of the turn, the turn signal went off as well as the alarm.
I then had to turn it on to see if that was truely the reason and sure enough after about 20 seconds....Beep,Beep,Beep....................
This may not have the impact or surprise of the hidden "Cup Holder" well. But it may be news for a few............
GM has had this since at least '03 (first time i seen it). The '03 Monte i'm trading for GT has this. Another feature i've only seen in GM is speed sensitive stereo volume. . . very neat. . . the faster you go, the louder your stereo.

. . . What a ride! Great!

I kick my butt every day for letting this go!
Yeah, our '05 Mustang's have the speed sensitive radios too. I got excited when I read about it and it worked. I would then tell people and hear....."Oh yeah, our Jeep Cheorkee has that" Etc.
So, that is why I was unsure how many people already knew about them.
Another one was when I bought an 2002 vehicle and was excited with the auto roll down on the switch. You can just tap the button and it would roll all the way down on its own. One of my friends said" Dude......That's been around for a few years" and bursted my bubble.
I don't buy too many new vehicles obviously.... .
Our '05 Mustangs have auto roll up, that surprised a few of them.
Interesting enough, most of the new "features" you guys are referring to are from Foreign cars. For example, the speed sensitive radios, have been standard equipment on BMW and Mercedees since about 1995. The auto window roll down has been on BMW since about 2000 and the window drop when you open the door has been on BMW verts since 1995. The full stainless exhaust is also a foreign leftover. Look at this,, The chassis on the new Mustang is based on the Jaguar S-Type!! Basically the merge of foreign and domestic car companies has done this. Take the Chrysler Crossfire for example. That is nothing more than a Mercedees SLK 320 with a different body and about 20K less cash. It's made in Germany at the same plant and has all the Mercedees emblems under the hood. Hell, half the instructions are still in German!!! Go figure
The speed sensitive radio is very old tech. I don't know who was the first to do it, but it was available on the T-birds in the 50's. Also, how many cars have auto up and down on both sides? Auto down has been around for a long time on the drivers window, at least 10-15 years if not longer. I have never seen auto up or the passenger window with these features. My 2000 ford pickup has auto down and it wasn't a new thing. Auto down has been around almost as long as power windows.

Thanks.....I wonder how many other things there are.............:hearton:
No insult to ford, my family has always owned fords, But they have always been behind on interior electronics and advancedment. I mean the mycolor display is probably one of the most advanced things they have done for a dash, I mean even the stereo system, while a shaker, its off the F-150 model. Hopefully someday Ford will be able to come up to par on interior electronics that Asian and European markets are light years ahead in.
The hidden cup holder? I must have missed it, where is it?
I'm guessing he means the front cup holder's false bottom that comes out to make it deeper for larger cups, but that's only a guess. I didn't find this until I had my car for a week.
What is the auto roll-up feature?
Also, thanks for the heads up on the turn signal warning..another feature I didn't know about. Hmm, maybe I should RTFM.
When you do a quick pull on the window switches, the windows will go up automatically. Drives me nuts now when I drive my wife's Durango and I have to sit there and hold the buttons until the window is all the up!

I have heard that about the windows dropping when the door is opened. I think Porsche has used it for a long time. The chassis of the Jaguar S-Type was taken from the Lincoln LS. This chassis was designed with that in mind but was drawn from scratch.
auto window down was on my 92 taurus, and my 83 volvo. The speed sensitive radio is on my 99 cougar, but I leave it off. I don't like it. My favorite elctronic feature,(it isn't on the mustang), is when I drive the BMW 330 convertible the headlights turn into turns. I love that.
