What did you do the first day you had your Mustang?
Just got the call - my Mustang should be in next week. I was wondering what others may have done to "celebrate" their new mustang. I'm in the over 50 crowd so my interests may be slightly different from other forum members. I was thinking along the lines of something nostalgic - tunes from the late 60s and take my wife to one of our favorite food hangouts from when we were dating in the 60's - just a thought....any ideas???

I filled it full of gas. I had it oogled over by the guy who pulled in behind me at the gas pump. He was driving a 2004 vette.
I went home and took my wife her new Chevy Avalanche at her place of work (she had no idea what i was off doing). Drove my Mustang Back home, Looked at it for about 3 hours, went to bed, stayed awake, because i did not want to miss any outside sound that would indicate an evil doer wanting to damage my baby.
Wife (overnight RN) got home and we... err... celebrated together

I had already made mix cd's for it with all my "mustang" songs I wanted... I had the new tail lights to put in- I drove around aimlessly, put it in the garage, spent some quality one on one time bonding with her, then took her out for dinner that night at my favorite pizza place. I parked her right at the window and sat right there watching all these people go in and out checking out my car.

We got our '05 Saturday night. Sunday morning I was oulling apart the trunk liner to install a sequential turn signal kit. :-)
It wasn't the first day since I picked mine up on a Thursday; but the first Tuesday that came by, I was at the track for test and tune night. It only had 300 miles on it!
All I know is that it is a lot harder to get a five speed down the strip than my old automatic car was.

Drove it all day... drove it fast, drove it slow, watched my reflection on windows that I drove by. Parked it, sat there sipping coffee on the patio watching people stop and stare at it....tried parking it in the garage, but finding new excuses to go out and drive it to the market.... went to the garage at 2 in the morning in my robe, like a kid at Christmas, and I still do 5 weeks later....
I was at one job when I got an unexpected phone call 'come pick up your new car'.
Met the Mrs. between jobs to sign paperwork and take delivery, and drove it to my "real" job. "Happy anniversary honey!" gotta love her.
It sat in the parking lot till lunch (6:30 pm) and then I drove it for 29 minutes south and then back to work, heart pounding all the way.
Drove it home at 11:30, the roads were nice and quiet as it was the Friday after Thanksgiving, I managed to keep it under a hundred (ok, maybe a little more) most of the way home. Heart pounding all the way.
A very good day.
12 hours of work - $232.00
1 1/2 hours signing paperwork - $27,480
getting a new Mustang GT for your 20th anniversary present - priceless

Oh, I'll be a dad too this fall... found out three days before delivery... luckily the wife has a Volvo stationwagon... 'latch system' for baby seat should be the same in the Stang and the Volvo... right?
