Looks like an opened a can of worms here. Police get no respect in their job because they deseve little. Far too many times in my life I've been needlessly hassled by junior cops on a power trip. I'm sure many here have their stories too.
IAM1096: Since when do we need to worry about our grammer when posting? A sign of our intellect? Our career status? Please turn the caps off when you call me an asshole too.
(there must be good money flippin' burgers to have a 'Stang for a toy )
Insulting someone's intelligence? Yet you can't type a single sentence without all capital letters or the use of proper punctuation? I guess when most law enforcement departments only require that you get a high school diploma, there probably isn't much of a need for writing skills.
Ouch! that really hurt! I apologize for using all capital letters, I simply didn't want to confuse him. It wasn't his grammer, it was the whole package. As far as your comment on law enforcement education standards, I'll bet you won't care about our level of education when someone's breaking into your home or raping a loved one, will you?
So no one has actually come up with a way of affixing the front plate without drilling? Seems like it would not be a huge challenge. I'm definitely going to work on something. If you ask the dealership not to drill holes in the front, then will they typically comply?
On a side-note, do they typically leave those stupid dealership badges off if you ask them to? Hehe!
There was a thread on here where a guy took & made some brackets for front plates that mounted on the underside of the front bumper using factory bolts or something like that. My state requires a front plate officially, but roughly 1/3 the vehicles around here dont have em. I already spoke with my dealer about this & instructed them not to drill my front bumper when the car arrives. Of course I'll stop in when its closer to arrival & make sure they know I really dont want it drilled. Im planning on working up something so when I get my personalized plate, I can mount it w/o drilling (on the off chance they ever repeal that front plate law here).

Well, I guess first of all, god bless the PATS anti-theft system. At least I know that if somebody is going to jack my mustang, they might as well bring a flatbed.
In regards to all the cop comments that are going on in this thread. I am pretty much in the middle on this one. There are some very helpful police personnel out there these days who really do focus on the important things like: general civilian protection, solving homocides, reducing crime and vandalism, etc. But I have encountered a lot of rookie cops or "reserves" who have a big head because they have a badge and a gun. To be completely honest, that really pisses me off. Instead of working on drug crimes or catching people out robbing businesses, they will harass people who have underbody lights, windows that are tinted a little too dark or who are going 5mph over the limit. I find myself being pulled over more in December than any other month so the local city cops can meet their ticket quota before the end of the year. I've had cops perform a "level 2" traffic stop on me. They had me turn the car off, drop the keys out the window, walk backwards towards their car, the whole nine yards. All because I was driving around in my old crown victoria that had antennas on it for my ham radios (KD8AZN) and they had "reason to believe" I was armed. WTF?
Here in Indiana, we aren't required to have tags on the front of our vehicles. It can be nice to put a vanity plate up there (or nothing at all) but to be completely honest, I wish they did require a tag on the front AND rear. I lived in Ohio for 2 years and it really isn't that big of a deal to have both. It actually makes the car more easily identifiable and it does serve a good purpose.
We have the same problem out here as well and have never been pulled over for it yet. When it happens I will velcro a plate to myu front bumper and go and get the ticket signed off.

I seen in the Moss Motors catalog that they have a front plate system that hids the plate under the front lip. It might be an alternative for those that need it for the street but don't want it for the show. Moss Mustang Store - Parts and Accessories for your Ford Mustang
i dont need a front plate here, but unfortunately i do have the holes already drilled
I'm tired of this plate thing. If your state requires you to have front plate … put the f-ing thing on. I hate having a front plate, but its the law. Tell them our illegal and have no stinkin' papers.
There is a really easy solution to this front plate problem. Just move here to Florida. No front plate, no inspection sticker in the windshield, and best of all, no ice and snow to deal with

I dont have a front plate and havn't had any trouble with the cops. If they pull you over they have nothing better to do. If they do pull me over im sure ill come up with a good story.
In regards to all the cop comments that are going on in this thread.
To be fair, it's been a couple years since these thread's comments were "going on" in the present tense.
I appreciate the job the police do (even though there's a few of them that abuse their authority with varying motives), and while some laws seem pretty asinine I'll comply with them either because they parallel my own sense of ethics or because it's more trouble than it's worth to not comply. A front license plate falls into the latter - one less reason to be pulled over is worth a couple holes in the bumper that get covered by the plate anyway.
Well, I guess first of all, god bless the PATS anti-theft system. At least I know that if somebody is going to jack my mustang, they might as well bring a flatbed.
Or jack up the rear tires...or break a window and throw it in neutral..or... you get the idea.
That's why I'm glad I got the active system in my car; has the inside motion sensors and inclination sensors, so if someone breaks a window, reaches in, or jacks up my car, they have to deal with the alarm.

Those are my thoughts too. I do appreciate what police do, but the problem is that there are over 80 cops in my county, with MAYBE 35000 total people, 25000 of which are in my city, so guess where a majority of the cops are a majority of the time?
There is only SO MUCH crime that goes on at all times when there are only 25000 people, meaning some VERY bored cops that will hassle you because they are BORED. THAT is when I have a problem and THAT is the reason I dislike many cops. If they are actually acting like helpful cops, not ticketing people for stopping for one second instead of two when there is no traffic in any direction, then I am 110% thankful they are around. It's just those other times, which is more often than not here, when I feel that cops are just giving themselves a bad name when they don't have to be.

Does anyone know if you can simply put the plate in the winshield? Apparently, there is only one part of town that I will get a ticket in about this. Unfortunately, I work in that part of town. I know it's the law, but what fun would life be if we didn't try to circumvent it on a daily basis?
