Hey drbino,
I use a great product called
RaggTopp Vinyl Convertible Top Care Kit. So far it works great. It takes the grime out of the texture with ease, and the protectant gives the top a nice satin look instead of the high gloss of other protectant products. I highly recommend this product, especially since it is recommended by the top manufacturer
Haartz Corp.
I live in a high humidity area, but have not had the car long enough to see any effects, if any. I truly doubt a top that is maintained properly will exhibit the problems your saleslady mentioned. Cloth tops probably have to be meticulously maintained, but the vinyl top on the Mustang only requires regular maintenance.
BTW, Autogeek had the lowest price and quick shipping. Hope this helped.
