I just ordered this two days ago. I get a letter this morning:
pc interface kit on backorder @2 weeks from 7/19/05 chris@rpmoutlet.com backorder dept.
What does this mean for me? Can I still install the intake system (and program it also?), or do I have to wait for the interface cable?
You can get right to the install when it comes! The PC interface cable is what you may use down the road to receive/load custom flashes.
I expect that you will notice the performance improvements right away... I did! I have 92 Octane fuel available so I run the high octane Flash. I may start using the 87 now that I am spending most of my time just "driving" it. That Diablo is an easy programmer too. I run the Federal Mogol FAST system in another car and it is NOT as easy!

The pc interface kit is not needed for normal use of the predator. You can install the intake and tune the engine without it.

Here's the rundown. PM or email me if you want more info:
*If you bought the combo package, then the predator should come preloaded with the C&L intake Tune on it. You really *should* make sure it has the most recent up-to-date version of the tune in it. Go here: http://www.diablosport.com/Manufactu...or%20C%20&%20L
AND READ CAREFULLY. That link sends you to updates available for the C&L Predator (boots up as C&L Predator, model CL7140), not the stock 2005 Mustang GT Predator unit (U7140). The CL7140 is the one that *should* come as the combo package with the C&L intake kit.
IF INSTEAD you have the stock 2005 Mustang GT Predator unit (model:U7140), then you should go HERE for info on it, and HERE for Predator revision updates* and the custom tune for the C&L intake kit.
In order to update the predator (either the CL7140 or the U7140), you MUST HAVE the cables. But you don't need the "cable kit" DiabloSport has provided the RadioShack part numbers to buy the cables from any RadioShack store (DiabloSport FAQ answer HERE): *12V DC 1A (1000ma) power supply, Radio Shack part #273-1776, for which you'll need the adapter plug, size "N" (comes free with power supply)(part #273-1717) *PC DB9 serial cable, radio shack part #26-117. You'll need one end to be male and the other depends on the connector on your PC's mobo, most likely you will need a female end.
Buying it from Radio shack will save you about 12 bucks plus the shipping.
Good luck and happy horsepower!
Mo
*The flash program on the Predator itself is *probably* out of date. Check the numbers after "r" on bootup. If it isn't r22, then its old. Mine was (doesn't mean they all will be). The Predator HAS to be updated before you load a tune from it into your Mustang. Before you hear "Oh, I didn't update mine and it runs sweet" keep in mind the program on the Predator is just like the Operating System driving your PC right now: it's constantly being updated with patches because there are always things being corrected for.
Hey guys and gals. New to the forum and this is my first post but I had to jump in and say something. I just went through the same thing with RPMOutlets. My PC Interface kit was on backorder. The Predator does not come pre-loaded with a tune for your specific intake. You must plug the programmer into your vehicle to obtain the CALID and then use that ID to download the specific tune for your intake from Diablos website. The only thing you can do when you receive the programmer and intake is to load some pre-set Diablo tunes into your vehicle and adjust some of the cars parameters, rev. limiter, etc...I purches the items from Radio Shack for about $32, I'm impatient. I hope this helps.

Hey Masinmike, welcome aboard. I'm a new guy too. Just joined a little over a month ago...
The CL7140 model (not the #U7140 that you and I have) does come with the preloaded C&L air flow tune, but this is the model that you should receive *with* the C&L kit if you purchase the package (about $750 or so). Even so, even it is outdated and should be updated.
Buy the 3' DB9 cable: it's cheaper and you don't need 6 feet for that cable!

So I paid $500 for the kit, and I do not have the tune also? Why is there such a jump in the price for a tune? Can you not download the tune? Is there any other parts that come with the kit that I am not aware of? Item number is RPM504601, but that is RPM's number, so I have no clue which Predator I have.

That is the K&N kit. You will not need a special tune just use the tunes on the stock predator. Theoretically the K&N system doesn't require a tune at all.

You may be right. I got the Predator specific for the C & L intake so I do beleive it came with a mild generic tune for that. Guess you just have to download the 91 octane performance tune, which I did. Sorry for the confusion.
Installed it two days ago. What I noticed right away was the lack of hesitation in throttle response the car had. Right now, it's got 91 octane and the 91 tune that came with the Predator. What I do realize is that I need to by the pc cables, so I am going to radioshack prob today sometime. OK, now with the CAI stuff. Can I use the C&L tune found from DiabloSport's Page? The kits look almost exactly the same, all the way to the CAI housing. Only difference is the material the pipe is made up of. What did you guys do?

I have the C&L kit with the Diablo loaded with their tune (CL7140). I don't have the option to turn off traction control. I thought it would be an adjustable parameter from the reading I did before my purchase. Has anyone got that feature in their Diablo?

Did you update? Supposedly it has more features.

Yes, I went from V.8r16 to the (current as of today) v.8r17 file. It is dated 7/06/05.
Thank you for your help. I am wondering if this is an option at all. I went through what I thought was all of the options for the tune before I loaded it in the Stang. I did not see that parameter available.
UPDATE (edited with this information):
I found this on their website:
* Dual timing adjustment points (2000-4000 RPM / 4000-7000 RPM)
* Timing table (+10% / -40%)
* Dual fuel adjustment points (2000-4000 RPM / 4000-7000 RPM)
* Fuel table (+40% / -15%)
* Idle (+/- 20%)
* Global Timing adder -6 degrees /+4 degrees
* Raise Speed Limiter
* Rev Limiter
* Re-Calibrate Speedometer for Gear and Tire Size Changes
* RPM Shift Points, adjustable via MPH
* Cooling Fan ON/OFF Temperatures
* MAF curve adjustment
* All of these parameters can be adjusted on the DiabloSport tune and/or the factory tune.
So: I can not turn off the traction control as a default run mode. Perhaps they will add this in the next revision.
