I wouldnt have any other car in the world! I LOVE THIS CAR!!
Someone told me to keep mine close to the max pressure for best tire wear and gas mileage, so i have mine at about 48/48. Is this too much or a good idea?

You might save a little on gas mileage, but you'll wear out the center of your tires way before their time. It would take a lot of gas savings to equal the cost of a set of tires. I would always go with the Mfr. info 32/32 for maximum tire wear and good handling.
DUDE 48 DO urself a favor and GO DOWN! At least 34 PSI Front and back
