If I had the pleasure to drive daily on the autobahn, I would put hood pins in my hood no question. The long nose of this car coupled with alum hood, makes for "wavey" effect at speeds over 100+ mph. I work for German company and have been there many times. You really need speed rated tires to drive at high speeds under all weather conditions. Pirellis are ok but, I would get better ones.
I only saw mine do it (dance) when I was at 125mph and got opposing windage from other cars. It looked concerning.
I don't get up over 80 mph now, I know what my pony will do and I don't want a ticket. I want to go to the desert in the future to romp on it though, prolly a few yrs away.
Now, stoplight to stoplight, well, I'm trying to make my hood shake but it don't happen...

How the hell do you know if your bumper is shimmying (spelling?). Trunk Monkey keeping you advised?
Why I use the trusty rearview camera that's mounted inside the rear medallion and facing downward. It came as part of the IUP on the 05 GTs. Small little sucker about 1/8" lens. Visual readout is under the tach on the dash. Didn't you get that option on your 06?

Damn, I didn't read the small print for the IUP. Mine car just got to the port and I'm going to go get her next week. Five hour trip on the Authobahn coming home...I'll use the camera to record my trip home from the back!!! LOL Oh yeah, then I can check my bumper as well....

Man I am glad I saw this tread! I put on a fiberglass hood, I will put pins in it now!! It dont look like it will come lose but i am not taking any chances.
I have had my car up into the 115-125 range several times (well at least I have not tried top ending it and it is a new, very flat, and fairly isolated highway I do this on)and have of course noticed the problem is magnified substainaly by a head wind. The worst case of hood shake for me occured when I was doing around 100-110 with a fairly strong head wind and a semi which I also think was speeding excessively went by in the opposing direction, not only did my hood look like a paint shaker on roids but the whole car felt like it was on marbles . I think I am done with the high speed runs on public roads after that, I know that this GT is capable of speeds greater than I can safely/sanely use so I see no point in pushing it anymore .
I have had my 05 up to 145 mph with no problems at all, felt like I was still doing 70 MPH. Maybe check your hood bolts to see if they are tight. Good luck
mine does it between 120-140kmh and up depending on the wind coming towards the hood, but yea its still a big problem to me and i actualy started a theard about this as you can see in my previous threads and get some info, most people say adjusting the rubbers or getting pins, my dealer ordered new rubbers for my car and im going tomorrow to change them, i doubt it will fix it, as nothing else helped , including adjusting the latch all the way down very tight, didnt help. ill update if the new rubbers helped at all.

Member as well. Mine would start to shake around 90mph. It would flap like a flag in a stiff breeze. Adjusting the rubber stops didn't really help at all.
When I took a closer look at how the hood was aligned, I found that over the driver's side headlight, there was about 1/2 inch overhang - I could fit my fingers between the hood and the headlamp. However, on the passenger side, the overhang was less than a 1/4 inch - couldn't get my fingers between the hood and the headlamp.
The problem is obviously too much air getting through the overlap area, and then trying to escape along the top seam.
That tells me that it's a defective parts issue, either the hood stamping, or one of the other body panels. The end result being a misalignment of the hood.
I ended up attaching some foam insulation (like what you use around a window air conditioner) to the underside of the hood, such that it made a seal over the headlamp area. I sealed from the center of the hood to the driver's side edge.
Amazingly enough, it seemed to work! I've brought it up to 110 or so, and no shake at all.

140MPH and no hood flap at all. A 350Z was two feet away from me throughout but I cannot report on his wind effect because he was just behind me
I have been seriously considering hood pins though. The Jaguar could do 160MPH but the hood opens the other way. Hinges at the front. Same with my old 151MPH 240Z. I really like that on long hoods.
Member of the "not a member of the hood dancing club", lol. Have been to 120 and everything was rock solid. Not into a headwind though...will try to avoid that after reading this thread.
I've had mine to 120 and the hood was rock solid. I heard on here a while back that adjusting the rubber stops helps alleviate the problem.
I would never drive that fast, it's agin the law. If, theoretically, I would ever venture to drive that fast I would be comfortable saying that my hood would be rock solid, as well.
