I'm a member of the Mustang Club of Ohio. Last night was our monthly meeting. We were going around the room introducing ourselves and including that 'something personal' and our previous club president announced he's the future owner of a 2007 Shelby!! Wow! I didn't get to ask him much about it, but he's buying it from the Ford dealership where we hold our meetings and annual Mustang show - Kreiger Ford on Morse Rd, Columbus. He's placed the order for a blue one. I asked him cost and he said it will be $3000 over sticker. He's not sure what sticker will be, yet, but probably around 45,000 (40-something thousand, we were in a restaurant after the meeting and I'm not sure I caught the exact amount). I can't wait to see it, hopefull he'll have it in time for the show in August!!
3000 grand over! I'll take one. No two. Don't want to throw a wet blanket but I'd have to see it to beleive it. I hope it's true so we all still have hope.

Must be something about club presidents. Our former president moved to Texas a couple months ago. He sent us an e-mail saying his Shelby will be delivered in June. He said he was paying $5k over MSRP.

There is going to be a lot of disappointed people out there. I work right here in the heart of everything and can't get a salesperson to even be serious about GT500.
And how about when when one becomes used? Are salespersons giving deals yet on the T-Birds? No sir-ee. Gotta milk that baby for all it's worth.
What we need is a Mustang that will be available to you and I, Ms and Mrs and Mr customer. So how will we do this? They can make enough of them just like they do with Fusions and Explorers and F150's.
Do we know how hard it is to only make 9000 of something? Believe me, it's actually easier to make more. Like running downhill slowly.
Dea. R&E.....When i bought my GT (Feb. 05) my saleman told me he could put me into a new T-bird for about the same price as the mustang GT.....and I seriously thought about it for a moment. So they were making deals.
As for the Shelbys....I just read an acticle in "Modified Mustangs" about the future of Shelby America......."Word around Shelby Automobiles is that the company is making more deals with Ford. We expect to see some kind of an affordable Shelby Mustang. They wont say what. It's hush-hush. In the shop, they are building new Cobras and Mustangs. They are making deals. The place is alive with optimism. Look for more great cars to come from Carroll Shelby."
Now....I dont know what all that means.....but I'm hopful that maybe in the near future, us working folks will be able to afford and own a Shelby of our own. So hold on guys and keep your fingers crossed. Ford and Shelby want our money as bad as the rich guys with more money than sense.
I'm looking forward to seeing what comes our of Shelby in the next couple of years.
And BTW....theres an acticle in Modified Mustangs about KJ's car and a new one-piece drive shaft. Check it out.

You might be right nghtrnnr.......and I'm not too keen on either the new GT500 or the Shelby v6. I wouldnt give up my GT for either one. Wouldnt mind having the engine and drive-train outta the GT500.....but thats about it.
It's still good to think that the guys at Ford and Shelby aren't sitting back and counting their money. I want to believe they are at work coming up with new and exciting cars that the average folks can afford.

Hey fordgrl99........I belong to the Tri-State Mustang Club. Your show is on our list of events. So I'll see you and that new Shelby in August.
005 GT - Your club's putting on the show in West Chester in July, right? I picked up a flyer at our last MCO meeting - I'm hoping to make it there. Our clubs need to support each other, right?! :thumbsup
May 15th Automotive News has a front-page story on the expected ADM on the GT500. The word is $40,000 for the MSRP, plus $15-$20,000 over, for those that want it bad enough. God bless Ford for finally making these HOT models! Now we'll start hearing from the guys that are getting it at X-Plan! LOL!

Maybe Ford and Shelby are talking about making a Shelby Focus or Fusion, or even a Ranger...then the working man can afford a Shelby!
The problem is that any time ANY (not just Ford) cool car hits the market, the dealers (greedy leeches) decide that they are going to make their entire annual budget off those few vehicles. That way they can sell their other vehciles below MSRP to please the masses.
Look at such cars like the PT Cruiser where they were presumably "affordable cool" but were going for $10K over MSRP when first introduced. The Ford T-Bird, the Chevy SSR, the Plymouth Prowler, and yes, the Ford Mustang, are just a few to name. try getting your hands on 50th Anniversary Vette at the time they came out...can you say waiting lists and jacked up prices?
I know many of you were able to secure your Mustang for MSRP or less (in many cases), but remember, the first few were going for thounds over MSRP. Here in my area, there was a dealer selling them for $10K over MSRP and claiming they had the lowest prices. I saw one dealer selling them for $14K over MSRP. Another dealer was selling the Ford GT (at $150K car) for $399K, that is a $249K markup. Heck, the Markup alone is nearly double the price of the car. Is it any wonder the GT500s are commanding such a price.
As with all great products, sooner or later the high demand decreases and forces the dealers to strike up wonderful deals. I remember back in January 2005, I saw one or two Mustang GTs on any given lot. I remember mentioning that in a year or so, they will be lined up by the dozens with incentitives...guess what, every dealer I check now has dozens of Mustangs, and I have seen incentitves...like $5K off MSRP. If Ford redesigns the Mustang in '09, the '08s will suddenly become more affordable (I grant only a bit more). Plus there will always be guys who want to be the first to own one, put a few miles on it, and turn aroudn and sell it. One questions comes to mind, do you think the resale value of the GT500s will remain high? Things that make you go hhhmmmmm...
