Default Gas Mileage Questions for all

im trying to gather info on gas mileage. i want to see the difference (if any) in gas mileage with the way you broke your motor in. i drove hard from day one (this past monday) and i am at 21.x as my highest so far. I did accidentally hit reset instead of info on the highway and the average changed to about 23ish. so basically, tell me how you broke your motor in and what your seeing for gas mileage. and just for kicks if you happen to have dyno numbers.

I had about 250 miles on mine when I put it on the dyno and had it tuned for my CAI. Stock was 258 RWHP 283 RWTQ. After the 87 tune and CAI it went to 272 RWHP 293 RWTQ.

I made one trip out of town (500 miles round trip) and ran 26 out and 24.5 back. Mine hasn't been baby'd. I regularly hit the skinny pedal on the floor. Around town it runs between 17 and 19. So I guess I'm doing what the EPA said it would average.

mines a stick, and I dont baby it for mileage- averaging around 14 so far. Only 'long' highway trips have been right at 24 mpg, but that included a half dozen scorched onramps- Ive heard (sticks anyway) average about 26 pure highway, and think mine is there(if I kept the foot out of it). another guy reported going from 26 to 30 highway by adding ONLY a shaker- so true coldair has enough promise to cut up my hood- I'm going to go with a cougar eliminator scoop though- want to leave room for a magnacharger someday (if momma dont kill me first). was really hoping to see scoop# 2 today, but noshow...its a old ford piece- bought off ebay. going to try ramair holes/duct around rear corners to leave room at center for 'future growth' \
I'd bought a new reproduction one weeks ago from mustangdepot, and it is messed up from poor packing, and a very sad looking piece anyways...crooked studs/thick-thin edges, let alone the stress cracks/chunks broke off...was gonna return it, but time I pay shipping to get refund (less original shipping) for 'possibly' a refund via a 30 day coupon I might not use anyway, its easier just to throw away. live and learn...OEM in even fair condition can be way better than some reproduction glass. I kick myself for not buying the one I saw at columbus swap meet a while back- passed because of some minor cracks- but 1000% better than the repop ended up being.

I'm averaging about 22 in mixed driving, though traffic has been on the up-swing since spring (I think there are just fewer people commuting early/late because they all want to be home in the afternoon for the weather) and I'm down a little from where I was a month or two ago. I'll get 25+ on the freeway if I'm running free.

Bought mine used with 7,000 miles and have put another grand on it. I'm getting 22 mpg with a 125 mile daily commute that includes 8 miles of stop and go and 54 miles of 55-80 mph each way.

06 V6 w/manual, just under 9K miles. Best 30.1 Worst, not under 25.5 or so. Last few tanks average 28.5-28.8. Mixed driving, highway I set cruise at 70-75. Current Avg Speed shows 43. I do get on it every now and then. :thumbsup

I put up the info center after the blower install & it always said around 7MPG ...driving modestly ...so I haven't bothered to check anymore ...guess those #39 injectors won't be on any go green commercial.

Moderate break-in for the 1st 500 miles. Justa bit over 3000 now and I'm getting about 11-13 around town and 23-24 on trips. But, like many have stated I didn't buy it for the gas mileage.
