Can anyone recommend a good shop to install a gear? Just bought a 3.73 and looking to get it installed. I am in the Northwest Suburbs.

I just called around to several transmission/differential shops and asked them if they have ever done a gear swap on an 2005 GT...

I found a guy at a "United Transmission" shop on Montrose Avenue in the city who did my install...

The gears are FRPP and run quickly with no problems for over one year now...

Install (w/o gears) cost $375.00 but in Chicago, everything is expensive...

Used the tuner to dial in the proper speedo settings...

I know Discofan had been happy with his gears so if you live in the city that's probably a good bet.

I just had some work done at Packey Webb Ford in Wheaton and was very impressed. They are a Roush and SVT dealer so they have two mechanics designated just to work on those cars and the aftermarket stuff. PM me if you are interested and I'll give you my friends name who works there.

It took my guy about a day to install the gears and test the car...

That, of course is because they have other work too...

Since you live in the suburbs, try the Packey Webb dealership...

These guys are "FORD" so they know what they are doing...

I may have gotten lucky with my choice...

But happy!!!

I bought my car at Packey Webb and I am familiar with their performance backround. I will call them for a quote. I was looking to avoid the dealer's extra costs but in this case I had better spend the xtra cash to have it done properly. Mabey they will give me a break since I bought it there. BTW I have seen your car a few times and it looks great; I live in Roselle.
